I got my new toy! (AlphaSmart 3000)

Thanks to all of you who encouraged me to get one. It's a-- I guess you'd say it's a portable word processor. Weighs two pounds, looks like this:

Of course, y'all will never see me again now that I have my new write anywhere toy, but I don't think that's going to cause any major dislocations. (Kidding; you couldn't get rid of me with Raid, but I should be here less often at least. Writing in the park and stuff, you know.)

1. Wow, seems a bit pricey

I did a froogle and the cheapest I could find it was around 250. Software for it is expensive too. I would have just got an old laptop off ebay for $50. For just word processing, you don't need much of a computer.

Though I guess you'd have the extra 3-6 lbs (depending on what book you got), and the form factor change of having an lcd

I'm pretty sure they're $200. A bit more for the software to take things from the computer to the AlphaSmart.
