"When a man and a woman love each other very much, they... sometimes... uh... err... " Funny how the FCC doesn't mind people talking about sex when it involves money flowing directly to major corporations-- or maybe it isn't that funny.

1. The Levitra (sp?) commercial woman thingy
talks about "quality response".
What does that mean?
What about the 4 hour erections they warn you about?

2. I always say "It's grownup stuff about naked sex and it's yucky!"
that makes them run out of the room in a hurry until they're about 10, Sometimes they insist, then I quite plainly and honestly explain. I start out with something like "Do you remember when I told you about how babies get in the mommy's stomach? ( 6-8yrs) Or "Do you remember when I told you about how men and women have sex? (9-11)"

They usually take it from there--don't volunteer anything, and only tell them EXACTLY as much as they want to know and save anything else until later. After 11, nowadays, they seem to know everything already, but let them tell you or it will only confuse things.

the love stuff is for 3-5 year olds. Science works well as an explanation after that.

7. And why are those Viagra guys jumping around to "We Are the Champions"?
Glorioski, my dick works! Block party!!!!

Frankly, for a lot of kids, all you need to say is that it's a medicine that makes the men feel better. When they are old enough to know the details, they find the commercials either embarrassing or hilarious (well, mine do, anyway!)

9. It's the Cialis porn soundtrack that gets me
wha-wha do, be do be do dum.

I'd don't even need the pills - just give me the commercial!

Actually, If my kid hadn't been old enough to know when these commercials first aired I'd tell her it was the greatest medical advancement since penicillin.

And I'll take all the 4 hour erections I can get!

8. Hopefully honestly, and not with distaste or discomfort
though the fundies, and others who think sex is "icky" or "taboo" or etc. that NO ONE should know about until their wedding when they just expect that all knowledge will come to them miraculously, I bet those people offer their kids terribly confusing and unhealthy disinformation.

Sigh...

Hopefully, some day, this country will come out of its sexual infancy and grow up and have this obsessive "it's a taboo/it's titallating" dichotomy that helps no one.
