Bus Driver Reports Children Dressed In Full KKK Garb

OCALA, Fla. -- A Marion County school bus driver filed a complaint with sheriff's officials after two children on her route dressed in white gowns and hoods and carried a wooden cross while waiting for the bus.

Claudette Johnson, who has worked for the school system for 23 years, spotted the two children in "full Ku Klux Klan hoods and cloaks" when she arrived at an Orange Springs bus stop, according to a Marion County Sheriff's Office report.

The children handed off the cross to another child, and did not speak to her as they boarded the bus.

Johnson, who is black, said she had also seen one hooded child about a week and a half before Wednesday's incident on the route that serves students attending summer camp at Fort McCoy School.

"I don't think this is funny," she said. "I'm an employee for the public school system. I shouldn't have to deal with this."

I cannot believe they are waiting to see if it happens again. I would contact someone from ACLU or NAACP. Sounds like a routine sighting to me, and once should be enough. I really am astounded that they are so blase about it. I am not black, but this sounds very threatening to me. Where is the outrage?

No more likely the parents of these "hooded figures" were not only aware but dressed them as such. I would hope that you would notice if your child was leaving for school in KKK garb but then (see above)
