3. Mine are done for.
The Central Florida heat has gotten to them. I got about four dozen out of eight plants. Cherry 100, Roma, and Big Beef.

4. Mine are just starting to get the yellow flowers.
Edited on Fri Jun-25-04 09:58 AM by bearfan454
I planted really late this year because of all the rain. I have Early Girl, 4th of July, Southern Star, bush Goliath, Health Kick, and a couple other brands I don't usually use. Early Girl outdoes them all here in the soil I have in Williamson County Tx. If you pinch off all the yellow flowers until the plant gets bigger you get better yields. I guess 400 lbs of manure, slow release nitrogen pellets, and Sam's tomato food once a week doesn't hurt either, huh ?

Hot banana peppers make the best salsa too. I pinch the flowers off also until they are at least a foot and a half tall. The trick on both of these plants I have found out is to bury the entire plant except for about 3 or 4 inches of the top. And I buy the plants that are already 2 feet tall. They are 3 bucks each, but so what I get shitloads of tomatoes and peppers.
