Sheryl Crow Kicked My ASS Last Night!
Caught her on PBS "Soundstage," a concert filmed in Chicago, I think. Damn, does this woman own the stage or WHAT? Such presence, such confidence--and she can PLAY on top of it all! The audience was up and grooving by the third number--always a good sign.

She played BASS on the first few numbers (75 automatic Cool Points right there), then moved over to a Gibson acoustic, a Telewhacker, then back to bass.

Damn, it was cool! There were big, honkin' STACKS of amps behind her and the band; I swear it look like the "lead" guitarist had him a bunch of tuck-n-roll Kustom cabinets. The band was red-hot, Beatle echoes everywhere you turned. And it don't hurt a bit that the woman can write!

I gots me a new hero now:

1. I've liked Sheryl since the first day I saw her
Apparently all she wanted to do was have some fun until the sun came up over Santa Monica Blvd.

It's tragic that BS artists like Brittany Spears constantly outsell real artists like Sheryl Crow.

2. I still think the Globe Sessions is her best yet
but she's got a great sound...is an accomplished player...has a voice you can't miss...really does connect with her audience and freely acknowledges her music is a rip off of people she admires (thereby making it a tribute to them rather than pretending originality is at the source) I was glad when she got away from Bill Botrell after Tuesday Night...the guy's got an ego that needs its own zip code

3. easy on the eyes, too!
After Jodi Foster, Sheryl Crow is my favorite over-40 sex kitten.

I actually didn't like the singles from "Tuesday Night Music Club" at all, but I like her later stuff.

7. Really? She kicked your ass?
I've met her, and she's smaller than I am (and I am a small person). Martial arts pays off, I guess.

Was it good for you? Sounds like it was.;)

8. She was an elementary school music teacher near my house...
I'm not suprised she has a lot of musical talent. She has done well for a good old southern Missourian.
