(OVALTINE TASTES GREAT!).......WTF?...It does?

I just saw a commercial for Ovaltine. The kids in in the commercial were ranting about how great Ovaltine tastes. Maybe they changed the ingredients, but as a kid i remember Ovaltine tasting like chocolate and sand! The stuff never mixed up with milk and always floated to the top. Did they improve it?

There is nothing better than a warm/hot cup of Ovaltine when coming home on a cold winter evening. It does usually end up being 2 or 3 or ....

If you drink it cold you really have to have a proper shaker or else put it through the blender.

As kids we used to simply put it on buttered (unsalted) bread. Yummy.

so I thought, hey before judging, get it a whirl.....bleah! Flat, not at all chocolaty like the commercial says, not thick, not good at all...quite bland.
I'll take Nestle Quick any day of the week for a solid stir it up chocolate drink anyday over Ovaltine!

I like the malt taste. Reminds me of the chocolate malts I used to love as a kid (but don't get now, for some strange reason).

It is my cacao beverage of choice (Of course under the "real" name : Ovomaltine).

The trick (IMHO) is to use foamed milk, as for cappuccino.

8. My father tells a wonderful story about Ovaltine from when he was a kid...

It was when T.V. commercials were live and incorporated into the show, I believe the show was Captain Midnight (the guy who did the Zoooom! salute) They had a little boy up there and they gave him a glass with ovaltine in it and he kept asking, "what are all those little dark things floating in it?" and refused to drink it. Of course my father tells it better than I. Oh to have live T.V. back. ;)
