Who's watching the Canadian Elections?
And what do you think?

It's definitely an interesting race.

1. Me
Yeah, it is going to be interesting to see what happens. I'm still hoping for a Liberal government, but you never know.

5. Polling indicates that they will get enough seats to hold some power,
but the separatist Bloc Quebecois will have more.

It makes the dynamics of forming a minority government fascinating. Will the hard-line Conservatives deal with the separatist BQ in order to form a government?
Based on the antics at the Conservative leadership convention the Conservatives have no morals and will make a deal with the devil in order to trash Martin and the Liberal Party.

7. Who?
They may do something this year, but I doubt it. It's gonna be alot of sacrifice votes for the Libs by people who traditionally vote NDP

4. I'm watching, I'm scared, the electorate seems to be in a
throw the rascals out mood, that means Reform, Alliance, CRAP, Conservative, whatever the fuck they're calling them, selves this week will have a very strong position in the new parliament. They're creepy, they're scary, I can only hope that minority goverment landscape results in a non-confidence votye soon and therefor a new election, where the voters can use their brains.

Anyone who actually pays attention knows what the Conservatives want, but sadly, enough seem not to care.

Mondaty will be interesting.

9. Edmonton Journal predicts new elections in six months
If we get a Conservative minority, they'll crash on their first Budget.

10. But that's if they can form a minority government.
I doubt they could manage to form a government if they don't get a majority.

13. What's left of it. I was away for 4 weeks so missed most of it.
Did anything really interesting happen while I was gone? Like did anybody really put their foot in their mouth?

I am hoping for a slight majority Liberal government with a strong showing by the NDP. Since I am in a die-hard liberal riding I'll vote NDP myself.

The one "Canadian" item I saw was Mulrooney speaking at Reagan's funeral.

I did watch all of the local political discussion shows, about 2 to 3 a week. I wish we had this here. It is not as if politics only happen at election time and it sure would be nice to have the various positions on current items revealed on an ongoing basis. Any ides how this could be brought about?
