Yeah yeah yeah...I know this will draw the ire of many. So in anticipation, I've already fucked, sodded and smegged off...

Star Trek is waaaaay to optimisitic in my opinion. The idea that we will, as a planet, unite to explore new galaxies is laughable, and is about as probable as Arafat and Sharon doing Kumbaya on American Idol.

It's also plain boring - most of what they do is sit and talk about their feelings all day - I mean WTF??? This is sci fi?

The only element of Star Trek that was even slightly OK was Star Trek 2, Wrath of Khan, and that was all Montalban - the man knows how to character act.

OK...flame away or tell me what else about Trek that annoys ya.

BTW...for the record, I am Geek and prefer Brit Sci Fi any day (Doctor Who, Blake's 7, Red Dwarf...the stuff is much better written and truer to sci fi IMO)

1. I have never seen a single episode of the TV show
nor the movies and I grew up in the 1960s. Have not felt the need to but if someone could give me a compelling reason I might.

2. <hesitant hand begins to raise slooooowly.....>
Uh - I know it's hip/geek/cool to like Star Trek, but man, I really find it to be such a snooze. I have tried. I did like the one with the whales, but that's because I like whales. And I liked the documentary "Trekkies." C'est ca!!

I consider myself bright, but I just cannot muster up the will to like scifi. I've been flamed mercilessly by other hip/geek/cool friends of mine, but to no avail. Just...cannot.....watch.....Trek......zzzzzzzzzz...........
