My Siamese are getting old...I used to "exercise" them with those feather
Edited on Sat Jun-26-04 08:20 PM by KoKo01
things where they would jump and act like circus cats. Lately they just lol about on the screened porch and seem "out of it." They are getting old.

My last Siamese lived to be 22 and he was very fit until his kidneys gave out because of bad teeth.

These two are only 11 years old and they are acting like they are 80.

Anyone know what's wrong? Siamese are really weird cats so if there are any Siamese owners you might be able to help a little more.

1. I had two Siamese...
I had to get rid of one of them though because he would NEVER shut up. He meowed all the time and it was loud as hell.

2. Are they related to one another?
I have an 18 year old siamese and she's always been lazy.

3. Brother and Sister but as they've gotten older they seem to hate each
other with much domineering by the male (rofl, typical) and yet there are times when they nap together, wash each other and are the best of friends. However the tension between them as they've gotten older is worse and I have to separate them sometimes because the male is biting his sister and acting aggressive.

I've asked the Vet and gotten no response. Looked at me like I was crazy because they are healthy.

It's behavior with them. But, I asked the vet if they could have arthritis. He whipped out a needle and gave an anti-arthritis shot to my female cat. I didn't think it made any difference in her behavior.

They just don't seem as frisky for their young age as my old Siamese did , but he was the only cat we had. He got a little crankier as he got older, but never seemed to need to sleep all the time.

And, for the poster who had to give away one Siames...they are both very vocal..talk all the time when they want something. Annoys alot of folks but their talkativeness isn't my problem.. I wish I could understand what they are telling me when they talk. :D

4. It could be genetic. Some lines are hardier than other.
Just make sure they have good food and let them do their thing.

5. ROFL....my first one grew up in Connecticut...hardy ...these guys are
used to Southern weather and maybe lolling around is what they need to do! Good point. Not all cats are the same, just like us.

Thanks!

6. Maybe it's the heat?
My Siamese will get pretty lethargic if I don't turn on the a/c.
