Well I just saw F/911....Everyone please read.
Edited on Sun Jun-27-04 12:50 AM by WI for Kerry
The theater was packed and we got good seats. Only 2 people left and that was to wards the end. I am in a lot of pain right now (emotionally). I brought a group of 10 to see it. Everyone cried and was angry. A young friend of mine who grew up in a Right wing, religious home was completely converted tonight. Plus we fully converted a fence sitter. I am sure I will see this movie 3-4 more times this week. Everyone I know, needs to go.

I can't get the picture out of my head of what I saw. The text on DU don't do these stories justice. Bush and the right wing are truly evil.

This country is sick, its almost dead. I will be bringing more people to see it later this week. I know some Conservatives that i want to go, i will buy their tickets. If they don't change their view after this, I will never speak to them again, family included.

This movie has hit me harder then i thought it would. I am almost in tears as i write this. How can people be so sick. How can anyone who makes money off the suffering of other human be aloud to live. There is a special place in hell for them and all who support them.

Also, I don't care what anyone thinks about this feeling, some our OUR TROOPS are sick people and should be jailed or treated the same way. FUCK Patriotism, FUCK IT. I am sick of being PATRIOTIC, Its time to start being HUMAN first!!!!!!

I need a break for a day or two, I need to let this all digest and sink in. I am truly in a lot of pain. I want to thank my friend Rob for truly opening my eyes and all of you at DU for keeping them open. I just may need to step back for a day, disconnect, and then i will be right back on the good ol' DU, fighting the good fight.

I just can't believe how sick I am right now. Mike Moore is a genius and I am happy I saw it, I just am too sick to my stomach to go on tonight. The American people are at the bottom of my buddy list right now......I....I don't know what else to say, I know I am rambling and this may not make much since, but I just don't have the words right now to make since of this.

How could we have let things get this bad......how??

1. People can be really disgusting
Edited on Sun Jun-27-04 12:44 AM by WindRavenX
Which is why I think people need to realize the magnitude of sickness we're dealing with.
I believe that people are usually good and decent creatures; but when we're evil, we're really evil.

2. The zeitgeist of teh country is now changing
more and more who see this movie will realize what is at stake

We are no longer the looney left

I saw it in the faces of the well to do today, as they sat there in
shock, as if physically somebody hit them in the gut.

What you saw and waht you feel is normal.

For me, second time this weekend that I have seen it.

I know there is a friend of mine I will try to get to the theater

He should see it, for his sake.

4. I haven't seen the movie yet, but
I read a review that basically said that Moore was preaching to the choir with this flick and that it wouldn't change any body's mind on the right wing. I'm glad the two that went with you who were not yet convinced finally saw the light. Could be that they just had an open mind. Maybe you'll prove that reviewer wrong and convert a few conservatives. I hope so.

5. I tell you what
I already knew about 9/10th of what the movie showed, but it really dosn't hit home till you see it in pictures and it is all laid out on the table for you in only 2 hours. I am not a emotional person, I have only cried 3 times in the past 4 years, 2 for the birth of my children and once tonight. This is very powerful!!!!

6. You may not realize it but..
Your very post is patriotic.

The difference is we've been taught that patriotic means to be in full agreement with your current leader (ruler)

In America being patriotic is knowing that sick bastards are running your country and doing something to get them booted out.

7. I saw it this afternoon so I totally understand where your head's at

Thank You for bringing so many to see this.
We have a slim chance to change this slide into Fascism
The American public needs to get in touch with their Rage.

After everything I saw in this brilliant Film

This is what is spinning over & over in my head this Realization
much more clear than I ever realized it before

" Bush and the right wing are truly evil"

I had this thought running over top of all the other images in the movie
the young soldiers in Iraq chanting Burn Motherfuckers Burn
The screams of shear Agony from the dieing & the injured USA & Iraqi

The COMPLETE & UTTER lack of conscience shrub has.

And the Evil truly Evil people he has surrounded himself with.

I would add this to the thought Bush and the Far right wing are truly evil & they are OUT TO DESTROY THE AMERICA WE KNOW & LOVE.

There is no doubt. To make matters worse so much worse mainstream American media is complicit in this destruction their in it up to their eyeballs.

They have totally gone over to the dark side.

We are getting close to the point where there will be no turning back.
America will descend into something very ugly & very Evil. The stage has been set.

Their is Nothing these people will not do you name it they will do it if it means keeping power & control.

They will do anything

Just watch & see.

I'm not a religious person but today I witnessed Evil personified.

He is the 43 third pResident of the USA.

8. Just saw it...

...with my mom and her mom at the Hilltop MegaMultiMasterPlex in Richmond (CA). Some random thoughts...

-- It's a darned good thing I Fandangoed my tickets a couple days before, or we might not have gotten in. We arrived 15 minuts early, and still ended up in the marginally neck-craning fourth row. The place was packed.

-- Watching movies at the Richmond Hilltop is always interesting, because you don't know what kind of audience you're going to get. Sometimes it's a fully-interactive, yelling-at-the-screen, fights-about-to-break-out-over-cell-phones kinda audience, while other times it's a tweed-wearing, brought-their-own-Atkins-approved-snacks kinda group. This audience was a mix of both, although a fight DID nearly break out over seat saving issues.

-- The movie is, imho, Michael Moore's best work by an order of magnitude. I won't belabor the point.

-- Like most of you, I'm a news wonk. But even *I* learned a couple new talking points in this film.

-- At the end, as people were clapping and cheering (which I always feel silly doing in a movie theatre) my 80 year-old grandmother (who, like the vast majority of my family, is a left-lifting Democrat) was crying. "I'm so ashamed," she said. "We should've known. I mean, we KNEW, but we didn't stop it."

-- The people sitting next to us in the theatre immediately started handing out fliers for Moore's virtual meeting.

-- It looked like the Hilltop was going to have a full house for their 10:15 showing.

I'll need to drag some people to see this,
Mike.

PS Finally finished Richard Clarke's book this morning...devastating.

10. Welcome to DU, Ducklord!
:toast: I've heard only one negative review of the film in question and the person didn't really elaborate, just said it sucked. I'll be seeing the movie sometime soon.

15. I also welcome you to DU, Ducklord! I appreciate your sentiments
You are very lucky in your mother and grandmother. My grandmother, who voted for Reagan and against Roosevelt, finally saw the light and voted for Clinton, but my mother will continue to feel that Bush* can do no wrong and curses out any Clinton that appears on her TV screen. And Hillary Clinton appears often around here, since she is our senator, for God's sake! I wish I could have taken my grandmother to see this.

11. The majority of the people on this earth aren't sick
There are many good people left and compassion isn't a lost word. I haven't seen the movie yet, but I will soon. I hope everyone can see that some of the American public has been duped and we might have a chance to get back to a peaceful nation. "You may say that I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one". Lennon meant that shit and it still stands true. It's not the end yet.

12. I don't know
I haven't seen the movie yet, as it isn't yet playing anywhere close, but I intend to. Take some time to distance yourself, so you can take it in fully and express yourself more objectively about it. I have no doubt that is very affecting, but we all need to be as rational as possible because of all of the work we have to do and all that we have to face between now and November. I just heard, on MSNBC, what a runaway hit that this movie is and this gives me hope.

I agree with you that it has gotten very bad and I have no idea how it came to pass. Everyday, I hear something I can't believe happened in this country or something too awful for words on behalf of the Bush* administration. And it just keeps on coming. We can't keep up with it or take it all in. "Where Is the Outrage?" is an understatement. Good luck on your mission to spread the word.:pals:

13. Things got this bad because of a lack of leadership in our
own party. No one stood up to these bastards when they could have, and now it's too late.

14. Your reaction is very similar to a lot of folks
but dont dispair.

I lived thru Watergate and it all came out just fine. We got Jimmy Carter out of that mess and it was good for 4 years.

Yes there are swings of good and bad, that is just natural.

We have a bad time right now, but 2004 could and should correct this mess.

Take a break and enjoy some family this summer. Dont try to fix the world, just do what you can each day.

Maybe talk to a few friends. And if someone ask you about the F911, just tell them it made me work a bit harder.

17. I can't wait to see this movie!
Something is scaring the shit out of the conservatives when they try to stifle something and that is exactly the movie I'M going to see! We were talking about something the other day, and I said something very critical of Bush, and she said, WHY? BECAUSE MICHAEL MOORE TOLD YOU TO FEEL THAT WAY!? Then she talks about how much of a traitor to the country he is and how he needs to be killed. And why did such a good man (reagan) have to die of Alzheimers while people like Michael Moore roam the earth free?! I told my mother that Reagan was a piece of shit and if it weren't for him, we wouldn't have to be over in Iraq right now because he put Saddam into power back in the 80s. And I explained to her that all Michael Moore did was put together ACTUAL FOOTAGE of stuff they're doing over in Iraq and stupid shit that Bush said to get his point across. My mother doesn't get it, and probably never will. It makes me sick how she can be poor but still be a republican. She keeps getting poorer because of those idiots and she still supports them. UGH!

One more thing: It's not ALL THE TROOPS who are sick people...
There's one here in Oklahoma who refused to return to his batallion and go back to Iraq. He's in prison right now awaiting his sham of a trial and probable death by firing squad. But he's sticking to his gun. I respect this man more than anyone ever, because he's standing up for what he believes in, even though he knows that during a time of war, desertion can be an automatic bullet to the head. His family says we don't know what is REALLY going on over there. He's sick of what the US is doing to the innocent people of Iraq. I agree that SOME OF THEM are sick and need to be punished, but don't lump them all together. They aren't all bad. Think of the men who have truly done some good. Like the guy I went to high school with who saved the lives of some of the people in his squad and some children when some idiots opened fire as they were trying to get one of the schools and a playground open for those neighborhood kids? That's just one example that I know of personally. There is some good going on over there. It's not ALL horrible lies and killing.
