Philly Fans *shaking head*

The Phillies have been in town this weekend to play the Sox. On Friday, the Sox destroyed them 12-1 or something. Yesterday, the Phillies got some revenge and beat the Sox 9-2.

I'm walking down Newbury Street yesterday afternoon with some friends, and we stopped to check the menu of a cafe. This bantam rooster of a guy leans over and taps me on the shoulder.

"You live here?" he asked, his breath redolent with watered-down Fenway beer.

"Yup," I replied.

"Sox fan?" he asked, visibly weaving on his feet.

"Yup," I replied.

"They suck," he says with a bleary smile, clearly hoping I would throw a punch.

"Great," I said. "Didn't you lose by, like, a million runs yesterday?"

Before he could process the data through the fetid warehouse that was his brain, I moved on down the sidewalk.

This scene was repeated, in one form or another, from one side of Boston to the other. The city was filled with abysmally shitfaced Philly fans yowling incoherencies at passing cars and people on the sidewalk.

Is it something in the water in PA? Or do all Philly fans just suck?

but as a live sports television producer, I have worked in Philadelphia many times and you are correct in your assessment that fans there are the most obnoxious anywhere.

Those obnoxious jerks are spending loads of $$$ in our area which will allow employers to keep their people working and the employees to pay their mortgages and feed their families.

Right now in touismville, we are feeling a pinch due to high gas prices equaling less tourism dollars spent.

Slap 'em on the shoulder (not hard, you don't want them to fall) and say yeah, I can see your point of view and point them in the direction of the nearest cafe, suggest they get something to eat at Boston's finest eatery and some coffee to wash it down.

12. I flew from Philly to Boston on friday night

and some sh**faced philly fan got up during some decent chop and tried to steal beer from the galley. This caused the cessation of Alcohol sales to the rest of us riding through thunderstorm alley.

They were scattered over our aircraft, re-enacting con-air right down to the repetitive dialog and bad haircuts.

rabid Flyers fan and a PA guy. I'll admit what most Philadelphia fans won't. Yes, we suck bigtime. We are loud, rude, obnoxious, and annoying sore losers who hate every other city's teams and fans. Personally speaking though, I would never try to start a fight over a stupid game.

Take 60 thousand people, who all want to be tough guys, stick them in a venue that encourages the "tough guy" mentality, add in the "blue balls" effect of watching team after team go deep into the playoffs and lose, and there you have a Philly sporting event. Seriously, Philly is one big collective unconscious of hard luck and bad karma.

was possibly the worst place for an opposing fan to be at. This coming from a die-hard Giants fan...I knew better than to show up into the lions den and put up with a bunch of Eagles fans who did a little too much tailgating (if you catch my drift).
