I've decided not to see F911
I already know that Bush, et al., are criminals whose inaction (or perhaps action--that remains to be seen) contributed to 9/11.

I already know about other PNAC/neo-con crimes perpetrated by the current regime.

I'm a pretty sensitive guy and don't need to torture myself with the sort of images of death and heartbreak I've heard described on DU.

Just thought I'd share that with you.

1. I think it's a good decision, Bear, and hopefully no one will criticise
you for it.

I'm beginning to think I can't see it yet, either.

2. Go and Take a Right Wing or Independent Friend. . .
Edited on Mon Jun-28-04 09:13 AM by emulatorloo
Then you will be doing a service to somebody.

Yes the scenes of collateral damage are hard to take. . .but they are brief and they are not hyped up or overdone.

In general, I found the experience of the movie to be very moving, patriotic, and uplifting. As a human being you owe yourself this experience.

(PS not meant a criticism - - - - - - -just my suggestion)

3. I encorage you to reconsider seeing F911
1. You will be more informed re: content

2. You will boost the numbers which is critically important.

If people stay away for the reasons you gave, then the right wing can say that there isn't that much interest in the topic.

IT IS A GRASSROO0TS WAY TO HAVE A MAJOR IMPACT ON THE MEDIA.

IF WE ALL GO, THEN THE MEDIA WILL HAVE TO COVER IT AND THE

SUBJECT MATTER WILL BECOME NEWS.

IT WILL HAVE A RIPPLE AFFECT, AND FENCE SITTERS WILL BE COMPELLED TO

GO SEE IT TO SEE WHAT THE FUSS IS ALL ABOUT.

4. But....But.....But...
...you'll miss the tintilating scene where Paul Wolfowitz puts a comb in his mouth, slides it through his mouth and then combs his hair

I can appreciate where you're coming from. My friend and I both agreed that there wasn't really anything new in the film, but then again we both are pretty up-to-date with the wrongdoings of the Bush Administration. But we wanted to go in order to support what Michael Moor had done

10. You do make it sound tempting.
I'll give it some thought.

6. I hate everything gory.
I won't even watch the Halloween movies, even though I hear they are just campy. I'm a big weenie but the stuff in F911 really was not that bad. There was a scene of a beheading in Saudi Arabia but it was from far away and it was over very quickly. That was the grossest but I think it was to show the barbarity of the Saudis (and also shows how a beheading is not done; i.e., Nick Berg). There were some injured Iraqis after the bombings but it is no worse than what we see on the news. So there are a few scenes that are gruesome but the vast majority of the movie is perfectly fine.

You really must. :)

so; why don't you buy a ticket or two and give it to someone who needs to see it.....? Spread the truth ....let independents and greens see this!

9. On second thought....don't go to see it
just go and buy a ticket and skip seeing it if you don't want to.

Listen up DU'er......this film is going to be so marginalized

by the right wing media, that if you saw F911,in one week from now you won't even recognize it as the film you saw after the right wing media hacks it.

The more that see it, buy a ticket for it, and boost the sales, will help to muffle the right wing media.

11. Yes, my friend said she intends to buy a ticket
...and then not use it. Maybe I'll do that.

12. It is o.k. to see, it's not really gory or gross. There is one scene
where they show the burned bodies of the mercenaries briefly. Other than that, the emotional distress of Iraqis and the lady whose son died are the hardest thing to watch.

16. I forgot about the beheading scene because I looked away, but
they give you plenty of time to decide whether to look at it or not.

14. Most of us are well-informed and most things in the film will be old news
to us.

I'll order the DVD as soon as it comes out. It is not showing in my town or anywhere near me (2 1/2 hours driving). It might be easier for me to see it at home, anyway. This way I can stop/pause it if it gets to much for me.

15. The items might be "old news", but there's a difference between knowing
and seeing the images on-screen. That and the music chosen for the film really drive things home.

It was an emotional experience to say the least, but well worth the $5.50 (thank goodness for matinees).

17. I will watch it on DVD
It is not showing where I live and I am not sure if I would be emotionally able to watch it in a theater.

It's important that the *elite understand how many this information will reach (even if you already got it somewhere else).

20. The "images of death" and injury are disturbing...
... but they go by quickly. I've noticed that people who don't have any experience with extreme injuries tend to see only a few seconds of random carnage that doesn't make a lot of sense to them. Paramedics, emergency room staff, and other frontline medical people will not be so lucky.

I found the images of injured people much more disturbing than the beheading that everyone talks about.
