And the battle with my con-cow-irker continues.
Today I walk in and find he has posted a picture of al'Zacowi (?sp) on the bulletin board, in the foyer, with a sign above it reading "Wanted: for Terrorism and Crimes Against Humanity". I pulled it down, he put it back up, I pulled it back down he put it back up. Now I'm thinking that having this posted in the lobby of our lab is an inappropriate place. Since this had the probability of going on all day I printed a pic of Bush and pinned it up next to the other picture, right under the Wanted sign. This should be interesting.

4. Bush: Wanted for Terrorism and Crimes against Humanity. GREAT!
And it is completely truthful. I would have done the same thing. Let us know how he reacts.

I am sometimes tempted to post political cartoons or other stuff, but I refrain from it. Nobody around here does it. I work at an University in the Bible Belt. I have anti-Bush bumper stickers but that is as far as I go. Nobody here at work bothers me with pro-Bush messages. And I don't think getting into those kind of arguments in my place of work is appropriate.

6. It isn't.
However this has been building for a while, and the boss is tolerant as long as we don't end up screaming at eachother. Besides, they already think I'm insane. It has it's advantages.

17. ignore it
Perhaps he put it up there just to trigger a responce from you. Getting a responce will lead him to do it again. "You should never let them see you sweat", or "when the wolf gnaws, smile".

5. Why don't you two refrain from this topic
during work hours? I'm sure it's not productive. One of you could wind up being asked to leave.

/schoolmarm mode :P

8. You need to pick and choose your battles. This was the wrong one.
Al Zaqawi (whatever) was and is a friggin terrorist. I'd be happy to have him taken down.

I hardly think being a liberal means not opposing terrorism. Just because a right-winger posted it doesn't automatically make it wrong.

9. No, it isn't wrong.
The battle, however, is about how inappropriate his choice of posting place was. The public bullitin board, where schedules and business gets posted, and where everyone coming in gets to see it is not the place for this. Since both statements are true, and he refuses to back down, I simply made his message complete.

12. I agree it's an inappropriate place to post.
But I think making a stink over this particular poster isn't the right way to go. It would be a whole different story if he was posting anti-Kerry propaganda or reelect Bush crap, or even pro-iraq-war stuff.

Just my opinion.

13. And you may be right.
He and I have had a long running idiological battle. We've already done anti-Kerry, re-elect Bush, and pro-Iraq war.

10. This is all wrong ....
Edited on Mon Jun-28-04 10:54 AM by Trajan
1) Zarqawi IS a vicious criminal who has killed innocent women and children - the FACT the Bush and his cabal have done do DOES NOT ABSOLVE ZARQAWI in the least ...

2) The workplace is NOT the place to have political battles .... it's a mistake to allow it .... It certainly cannot lend itself to improved productivity ...

3) Just as it is a mistake for BushCo to lump ALL 'antiwar' proponents as 'Saddam lovers', it is also a mistake to lump all those who attack US forces, and therefore bush's extension of ppower, as 'friends' ... Zarqawi is NOT a friend of ANY human being ... he is a vicious animal who deserves a very sorry fate ... And I love our soldiers: I respect their service, even as I despise their leaders ...

I despise Bush and his PNAC lackies, but I despise imhumane butchers like Zarqawi as well ...

NEVER allow yourself to be placed into the position of 'defending' Zarqawi or his ilk ...

14. You missed something here.
Nowhere did I support or defend Zarqawi. I agree that he is a criminal. I simply placed Bush in with his company where he belongs.
