Kentuckian follows hard road to freedom

LANCASTER, N.H. -

Wolfe, 20, of Corbin, who planned to walk 1,000 miles to join the Free State Project's "Porcupine Freedom Festival," injured his foot and then was robbed at a campsite 350 miles into his journey. So he took his car.

Friday night, Wolfe totaled his purple Neon when he hit a moose as he made his way through Lancaster, the site of the festival.
"God hates me," said Wolfe, pausing to take a drag from a cigarette.

"I've been on my own since I've been 17, and every last minute of it's been hell."

Wolfe is now homeless. He forgot his tent in Kentucky and planned to stay in his car, but that is impossible now. He said he can't go back to Kentucky for legal reasons. He also lost his job as a Taco Bell manager-trainee when his bosses read about his Free State plans in an Associated Press report, which said Wolfe wants to decriminalize marijuana..

Wolfe left Kentucky May 23, intending to arrive in New Hampshire in time for the Porcupine Festival.

This young fella who "lives" just up the road from me definitely needs a break ... and a calendar! ... but I do appreciate his stick-to-it-iveness. Makes one wonder whether he's trying to get "to" NH or "away" from KY. No further commentary.
...O...
