Robber Pays For Cup Of Coffee Spilled During Holdup
<snip>

A man who carjacked a vehicle Thursday in Kansas City, Kan., later robbed a convenience store — but paid for a cup of coffee spilled in that holdup.

The crimes started about 2:30 a.m., when the man carjacked a woman's Lexus at a McDonald's restaurant in the 3700 block of State Avenue, Police Capt. Michael Kobe said.

Police think the carjacker, joined a few minutes later by a woman, drove to a QuikTrip at 4700 Lamar Ave. about 3:40 a.m. and donned a trash bag with eye holes cut in it.

As the carjacker approached the door, a Kansas City Star carrier in the convenience store saw him and tried to run out, police said. But the robber forced him back, spilling the carrier's coffee.

The robber, waving a gun, demanded the store's money and a pack of Marlboro cigarettes. He paused before he ran out.
