5. Tis true. Tis true.
I spent a lot of time cruisin' around with the roof open and the windows down this weekend.

And for sure, she is, a bitchin' ride.

6. Yeah, baby! Sunroof and windows on a summer's day!
I remember doing that, but it was because the air conditioner was broken. :D

7. I'm hoping to become more of a Jazz Cat.
Hopefully, I'm going to start taking piano lessons soon. My interest is to learn a bunch of Jazz Standards and mix them in with piano versions of Radiohead and XTC songs. Then, when I retire, I will become the Piano Man.

But that's something I can do on my own. Trying to work my schedule in and around the 4 other guys in the band was becoming very difficult.

9. Ahhh...a hep cat...nice.
B-)

I need to get back to the piano too. My mom made me take lessons when I was 8. Hated it. Now that I'm older I think it's pretty cool. Go figure.

10. Just remember...
to be patient. Learning piano can be a very frustrating experience for adults because they don't get good as fast as they think they should.

12. Well, I can play already more or less.
I did earn a living as a professional keyboard player at one time...

And I took 3 years of accordian lessons as a youngster, but I've never taken piano lessons.

I can play about as well as John Lennon, but I really want to learn to play and croon.

15. Well that's different then
Learning jazz will be fun if you've already got a basic idea what you're doing and a good grounding in music theory. All those chords ya know. :)

22. Call Me on The Piano Thing
I can give you some really cool cocktail jazz tips. Big, 7 tone chords and progressions that will fill the room with sound.

It will get you WAY past John Lennon.

One more thing: Never call yourself the Piano Man. Too geeky! Besides, it's not like you should aspire to play like Billy Joel. He can't play none!

17. I hear ya on the scheduling thing
We have a festival to play and for some reason they want me to schedule rehearsals. We haven't played together in about 6 months and I am trying to get everyone together. It's a bitch, then they bitch at me. After 25 or so years in a band, I'm ready to be a solo folksy/guitar coffee house dude.

You know the reason you're "stepping back" is because you wanted to be the front man. It was sooooooo obvious! :eyes:

21. Bummer!
But, i can empathize. For me, it's that and the fact that i can't move gear at 3 am anymore. If i did, my MS would fatigue my legs so badly, i'd be a wreck for 4 or 5 days.

Now, we just rehearse and record, and sometimes go to jam nights where backline is supplied. Lots easier on the system.
