Did you see "The Talented Mr. Ripley"?
What'd you think?

I thought it was probably Matt Damon's best performance.

I'm watching "Ripley's Game" with John Malkovich now. Looks pretty good so far.

1. I thought Damon was good in it, too.

He's good in dramas, I think - I saw that comedy where he's a conjoined twin with Greg Kinnear and it was awful IMO. The Ripley movie as a whole I didn't care for that much. Philip Seymour Hoffman and Jude Law were great also.

2. Yes. Couldn't help but start to root for him.
Which was disturbing.

I kept having to remind myself he was the bad guy.

3. Mr. Damon's performance was excellent...
but I LOATHED the movie. It's just one in a recent series of extremely gay-bashing movies that I find incredibly disturbing.

5. I liked "TMR". *Very* strong cast.
Damon, Paltrow, Law, Philip Seymour Hoffman....all excellent.

Had a very well-executed 'Hitchcock' feel to it.

8. I agree.
I thought nearly everything, including the acting, about that movie was superb. Great story, direction, score. That movie has it all.

6. I like Matt Damon
He's a far better actor than his boyfriend Ben Affleck.

I think he should have played Elektra in the Daredevil movie...maybe it'd have been watchable.

10. check out the American Friend
which is Wim Wenders' version of that story -- with Dennis Hopper playing Ripley. It also has Nicholas Ray playing the painter, yes Nicholas Ray of Rebel Without a Cause, and Bruno Ganz as the framemaker.
