I'm baaaaack.
Sorta. I think my brain is still in NC. You may or may not notice, I'm a day late. Let's just say my streak of having the worst luck ever was continued on this trip as well.

Things were fine at first. I had a flight from here to Charlotte then finally on to Jacksonville, NC. Well, (just as I was telling the guy beside me how bad my luck was) we had to sit on the runway for a good 40 minutes in Charlotte. Causing me to miss my final plane by 5 minutes. I finally arrived in Jacksonville 2 hours later than expected. But I had a GREAT time. Learned a lot more and saw a lot more of the base than I did the last time I went. Plus good quality cuddling was nice too. So on Sunday, we went to the beach and had an eventful, but peaceful day before I was to fly out at almost 8 pm. (cue dramatic music) So I get to the airport and they say "You must be ..." as I walk up. That's NEVER a good sign. My flight from OAJ to Charlotte was delayed 55 minutes. No big deal. THEN they tell me that my flight from Charlotte to home was CANCELLED. Great. JUST great. But actually, things didn't end up being so bad. They gave me cab vouchers to and from the airport and put me up in a really nice hotel room for the night. They even gave me a note since I was supposed to be at work on Monday morning. But the best part? I got a free, roundtrip ticket to anywhere in the US and Canada, valid up to one year. Not to mention I got to spend one more day with him. :D

So, here I am. I'm back. Sort of. What did I miss? And GOOOOOOOD MORNING DU!!! :donut:

11. Thanks for asking.
Been exceptionally busy, since I seem to have given birth to an 18 year old!
Family member recently came to live with us, and keeps us busy,
not-to-mention taking over the computer!
Stay positive, Blondie! :)

Her Aunts took her to see Farenheit 911 last night! She lived in New York till she was 6,
and has lived in the South for the past 12 years, so we've got to repatriate her to a
New York way of thinking. Will do!
Have a pleasant day, Blondie. :)

13. No need to be worried!!
I'm doing good! It was a combination of things really... I was sick and I was staying at my girlfriend's place for a few days because one of my roommates has decided to be a total prick once again, so I just didn't want to deal with him for a few days. (It's not the first time, and I can't wait to move out on my own. I just need a little more money in salary to afford it...) I'm glad you had a good time seeing your man and I'm glad to see that you came back to us! So when will you be able to see him again?

To hear that things haven't been going the best lately. But, I have total faith you'll be just fine. I know how the whole roommate thing is. So, if you ever need to vent, you know how to get in touch with me! :)

And thank you very much! I'm glad you're here this morning to welcome me back! He'll be in this weekend to see me actually since they get leave for the holiday. But after that, it's probably not going to be until late August. :(

Hey, August isn't that far away!! And you're going to have an amazing time this weekend! I know it's hard to be separated from loved ones, but if you don't think of the time apart as being that long, it actually seems to go by faster. I realize that's not always easy, but you always have us here on the difficult days.

Got any good plans for the 4th?

Not sure of plans yet, hopefully something fun and not too boring for him. What about you?

35. Sorry it took so long
Had to get ready for work, and then actually do some work!!

Things are going pretty damn well with the girlfriend. This is easily the longest I've gone with someone without having something drastically wrong happen. I keep waiting for aliens to come and kidnap her. That's about the only thing left that HASN'T happened to me. :-) She's a great girl... she's had a shitty life though to this point, so she still has pangs of not being able to trust me fully, but that's fine. Trust shouldn't be given overnight anyway. How is the man doing anyhow?

For the 4th, I think we're just going to hang out at my buddy's place and drink heavily. His apartment building has THE BEST view of Washington DC. You can literally see the ENTIRE city. It's fucking amazing! It's right across the street from the National Cathedral. Shitty building, but awesome view. The day before I'll probably go to my other friend's place and sit by the pool with some margaritas. Should be a nice relaxing (and cheap) weekend!

Anyway, back to work for me!! I hope you're having a great day, and I'll check in again soon!

8. Hi Kayla
Glad you made him back home safe and glad you had a great time. ALOT has happened since you've been gone, I've met this girl Friday EARLY in the morning and ever since we've been going out. I swear to god the connection we have is like we've been going out for several months. But already there a few roadblocks, hopefully this thing works out. Last night proved to me how much she really cares.

17. Thanks
I hope it works out, I am very afraid of doing something in the future that may hurt this girl. It took me a looooong time to find a girl like this, 3 years in fact and I'd hate to lose this one you know what I mean? The thing I realized is I was looking in the wrong places, I kept slowly trying to get with one of these girls I knew for years but unexpectedly I happen to see the right girl(I didn't know it right away) walking down the sidewalk at 3 AM, in my mind I go over the odds of us not seeing each other that night and they are not very high.

Anyways what are you doing today?

Don't put expectations on it this early. Seriously. You two just met. Slow it down and you'll have greater rewards in the future.

28. Actually 4 great days
Edited on Tue Jun-29-04 07:31 AM by Champ
For a period of time we were together for 63 straight hours and no one here is speeding up the process, we are just reacting to how things go. But if you only knew(which you don't cause your not here), I said earlier the connection we have is more like we've been together for awhile then a couple who just recently kicked it off(Believe me I know, I've been in relationships before). But I'm not putting expectations, I'm just stating I can really see myself with someone like her and I don't want to hurt to her.

Me, sleeping then I am meeting her at her friend's house at 2 and we'll probaly end up spending the entire day together.

32. I am very sure we will have fun
She is a very fun person to be around and not the only that very smart and has great personality. I know her pretty well, I've met her brother(she lives with her brother), talked to her sister on the phone, met most of her best friends. lol alot while I was away from her some of her friends asked her what are you doing going out with a younger man? She told me she told them "I'm going to tell you something, age doesn't matter" It kind of makes me feel good I treat her better then alot of these men out there.

When do you get another chance to see him again?

Even happier you had a good time, and it doesn't sound like you were nervous at all about the flying. Guy did try to stand in for you, but it wasn't the same. Were work OK about being a day late? Are you using your free flight to see your man again?

I was pretty nervous, but after the first delay, I kinda just tried to sit back and be patient. It wasn't too bad, not that I could do it everyday, but still. :D Work was okay about it, but now I'm still feeling bad, ya know? I think I'm going to save the flight for the day he gets deployed. That way, if it's last minute, I won't have to worry about the money. :D How have you been?

19. G'day, Blondie!
 and welcome back! :hi:

Sounds like you had quite the odyssey for a just a 3-day weekend, a little like the show that started off with a 3-hour tour...LOL :D Glad you got some good quality time with your favorite Marine!

The weekend rained, again. It's like all of the rain we didn't get during the spring months is coming in 3 weeks of June. The weatherman said that there was rain somewhere in GA everyday in June. This is one of our drier months, one of the reasons for June weddings. Hopefully, we don't have to have water restrictions. Played trivia on rainy Sunday night with friends I hadn't seen in a while. We didn't win, but that's an option for Sunday evenings.

Last, but not least, my soccer teams won. The home team continued their winning streak on Friday, and my Euro team (Netherlands) won on Saturday. Had to read the commentary online. That's it for me.

P.S. You're back in training--no doughnut for you! :P

And you know, that three hour thing, that sums it up perfectly! Who knew that I'd be gone for 5 days? Sheesh! Sorry to hear that the rain is bearing down on you guys! That sucks majorly! Is it starting to flood any? Hope it stays down your way instead of up here! :P It was amazingly beautiful this weekend, 90+ everyday. *sigh* I'm probably not making it any better for you, my bad!

WOO HOO!! GOOOOOO TEAMS!! That rocks! When are the next games?? Training? Ugh. He spoiled me and took me out to really good dinners so yeah, I need to get my butt back into gear.

29. The rains have to end
The temps haven't been bad, so that's a good thing--the humidity is another story. Put in my mileage (6mi, 4mi and 2mi stretches) and speed intervals. The knee is holding up nicely.

We had floods, bad traffic, lightning strike casualties, trees uprooted and crashing into buildings (a nursing home was one). The 2 wks of rain have wreaked havoc around here. I even got in a little cooking, made a seafood quiche and broccoli casserole. I'll try my hand at crab cakes, and even crab and corn soup later in the week and the weekend.

Here's a
How were the dinners on the coast?

I have my limits, too. I don't run in the rain, light rain is okay. I do stay out late some nights.

The skies are clear today. Hopefully, the long weekend will be nice.

Too bad you aren't a seafood fan visiting the coast. I lived in Va. Beach and loved the seafood restaurants.

Enjoy your day home.
