When my son was 16 his father (my x) bought him a moped against my wishes and better judgement. He had an accident and for 14 months we tried to save his leg but, in the end it was amputated from just below the knee down. My son is now 32 and every now and then he'll say, 'Mom, I should have listened to you'.

My cousin served in Viet Nam - lost an arm and a leg.

Anyone who would choose to cut off a healthy limb imho, needs to be put into a padded room for awhile.
