9. "Sixteen Tons" by Tennessee Ernie Ford
That qualifies as a pop song. "Pop" for the 1950s.

Anyway, it sure works to enhance this song. Word is that Ernie Ford only snapped his fingers to show the band how to play it, but the producer liked it so much he asked Ernie to keep it in.
