For Me, It's Outback Steakhouse for Dinner Tonight!!!
Today is the lovely Mrs. CO Liberal's, birthday. And her parents are taking up out to dinner at the Outback Steak House here in Colorado Springs. I'll be meeting the three of them there after work.

1. Do have a Texas Roadhouse in your area?
Because I think their steaks are much better than Outback's. And they let you throw peanut shells on the floor.:)

3. I've been to both, and disagree.
I like Outback better. But TR is fun. I bought my staff gift certificates there last Christmas.

9. That's really surprising.
The one here has excellent food, and is always packed. But to each his own, I guess.

Texas Roadhouse reopens today; 240 claim to have been sickened

Story by Staff and Wire Reports

STAFF AND WIRE REPORTS

FORT COLLINS --
More than 240 people have contacted health officials in the past two days to complain they were sickened after eating at a Fort Collins Texas Roadhouse restaurant.

The outbreak is so large that 10 Larimer County employees have been assigned to the investigation of what happened at the restaurant, part of a national chain based in Louisville, Ky.

The restaurant on Harmony Road has been closed temporarily and the company has hired a private contractor to disinfect the restaurant, health officials said Thursday.

The restaurant will be open for regular business hours beginning today according to company officials.

10. There's a Texas Roadhouse in Pueblo
We wanted to go there once, got as far as the front desk, and walked out. Those peanut sheels are a slip hazard. My wife slipped and fel at another restaurant once, and we didn't want to risk it again.

I'm surprised that Texas Roadhouse hasn't gotten their corporate asses sued.

Besides, several hundred people got sick a few weeks ago after eating in a Texas Roadhouse in Northern Colorado. I'm staying as far away from that chain as possible until they discover what caused it.

13. The Best Steaks I Ever Had....
...were at a place called "The Big Texan" in Amarillo, TX. They feature a 72-ounce steak dinner (steak, salad, potato, etc). If you can eat it all in 90 minutes without puking, it's free.

I never tried their 72-ounder, but their smaller steaks were GREAT!!!!

I like Outback, too. When I left my employer in Tampa, my co-workers gave me a gift certificate to our Temple Terrace Outback, knowing how much I like it. (Miss you guys):hi:

11. You Get Used To The Altitude
Edited on Wed Jun-30-04 01:54 PM by CO Liberal
I grew up outside Morristown, NJ - about 300 feet above sea level. Pueblo West (where I now live) is between 4700 and 4900 feet above sea level, depending on the area. And Colorado Springs (where I work) is around 6000 feet. It took a little getting used to, but the altitude doesn't normally bother me. It did a few years ago as I was driving over Wolf Creek Pass, which is around 12,000 feet.

7. Interesting story about Outback's management-Afghanistan
I've told this story on DU before but here it is again.

Outback took a 747 (corporate plane I think) and ripped all the seats out, loaded it up with steaks/onions/potatoes/everything, had several kitchens worth of equipment loaded into it, and fed almost every American (and others I suspect) in Afghanistan. The guy who told me about this was IN FRONT OF the front lines and if he and his unit got some of it EVERYONE did-actually they fed the grunts etc. first.

I give a lot of credit to Outback for doing that and they haven't tried to pat themselves on the back publicly at all. Good for them.

that's a phenomenal thing to do for our troops.

but they give ridiculous sums of money to the repukes, so it's a wash.

17. It's a nice thing to do, but...
why pull the seats out of a rented airplane when there are cargo versions of the 747?

It can't be their corporate jet. Boeing doesn't have a 747 as a corporate jet.

I never knew that they did something like that and most companies would use it as free advertisement.

Thank you for posting that.

23. We Got Home From The Outback Steakhouse a Little While Ago
My father-in-law and I had the prime rib. My wife and my mother-in-law had pork chops. We had two blooming onions, and I had the Sydney Sinful Sundae for dessert. (My wife and my mother-in-law had cheesecake, father-in-law just had coffee.)
