I just finished an old book about Amelia Earhart

Some may not remember her, but she was truly someone special. She believed in women's right to vote, and she believed in women's right not to have children, or like her sister, to have children. She believed in a woman's right to pursue a dream.

What was that dream?

she set many flying records, and in many ways, was more famous that Charles Lindbergh.

2. I saw a documentary about her disappearance.

It seems she made some bad mistakes that led to her death. She probably overruled her navigator who would have gotten them to their destination.

I think her skills as a pilot in many regards were overrated. Being a good pilot means not only that you can fly the plane, take off and land, but also that you make responsible decisions that insure that you get yourself and your crew to the destination.

3. From what I read

many wanted her to make the leap over the pacific by herself, but she insisted on having her navigator with her. It was a good book that I read because it didn't try to idolize her, but presented her as a person that simply had a compulsion to fly. Her navigator died with her.

4. Which book did you read? I have lots of the old ones

since I was always intrigued with Earhart's life (and disappearance) as a child... One my Mom had given me disappeared at one point, but I came across it recently in a vintage book store...:7
