I ran across this Kerry-Edwards love-fest site by accident
Edited on Sun Aug-01-04 09:15 AM by Rhiannon12866
I was just searching for a good photo of Kerry and Edwards together to send to my friend. Who thinks this stuff up?! These guys just like and respect each other! As has been expressed often before on DU, just don't let the Bush* people see this! They are already paranoid and prejudiced enough!
:scared:

1. LOL
Come on, where is our sense of humor?
And the Republicans have already seen it - I noticed it was sponsored by W Ketchup. (spare me)

I think a few days after Kerry named Edwards as his running mate, Letterman or Leno did a video clip with Kerry and Edwards hugging, etc playing "You Are So Beautiful"

No rational person would believe that this video wasn't doctored or that Kerry and Edwards have anything but respect and fondness for each other. The type of person who would take anything away from this other than a good laugh would never vote for Kerry anyway.

2. I agree. And it is humorous.
They did the same thing with Bush* and Blair! There was also a video about them that made the rounds. I know that Kerry and Edwards just really like each other and are in this fight together, but all the references that I have seen to this on DU makes me notice the hand squeezing and embraces more than I ever would have, otherwise. Of course, this video was doctored. I am just asking why we have such a preoccupation with this. This is a serious campaign.

3. Kick!
What does everyone else on DU think of this? I think it is probably harmless, but unnecessary, since we have to take these guys seriously. Kerry and Edwards are our only hope for the future. Bush* and Blair, who have been the subject of similar videos, are, hopefully, the past.

4. I laughed
I think it's funny and harmless. People who believe John Kerry and John Edwards are homosexual lovers probably wouldn't be voting for them anyway.

5. Well, I certainly agree
And it's just a ridiculous thought. But I did think that it was odd that this was one of the sites that first came up when I was just searching for a nice photo of Kerry and Edwards together. A vast right-wing conspiracy on the internet?!

6. Ha!!! This is clever, silly and, yes, funny!!!
The Kerry-Edwards friendship is obviously genuine to anyone who sees video footage of it.

This is just a bit of harmless satire.

8. I appreciate the genuine friendship
I was immediately affected by it the moment I saw them together and realized that Edwards brought just what was needed to the ticket. So why do so many people try to portray them as gay?

9. Easy laughs? I don't know. Rush has been referring to Edwards as..
"Breck Girl" for some months now, as if that's going to permanently damage his manliness in some way.

Right-wingers like to believe that certain mainstream aspects of American life exist **strictly** for them: God, love of country, truth, resolve, virtue, love of family, marriage, true friendship, faithfulness, etc.

Anyone who falls outside of their narrow boundaries of acceptance -- be they liberal, or gay, or minorities, whatever -- well, they just shouldn't be dabbling in these "exclusive" activities. And if they do, then there's something "perverted" about it, like the freeper take on gay marriage, for example.

And so it is with the Kerry-Edwards friendship -- freepers can get some distance on it -- and try to devalue it -- by making it seem unnatural, or by ascribing sexual overtones to it, and so on.

To me, it's just silly, but my wife looked at it, and she didn't care for it -- she thought it was disrespectful -- and she's no prude.

11. Maybe that's also what bothered me about it
I'm no prude, either, and pretty tolerant - I'm a member of DU, aren't I, LOL! - but I see this election as a very serious thing. I feel that our existence as a country hangs in the balance, so I'm not inclined to be silly about it. I think that Kerry made an inspired choice in Edwards. He seems to complete the ticket. I am just holding my breath that they will prevail. I guess that's the reason I resent anyone making light of this.

7. Yes, of course it's horrid and unnatural for men to like each other
and enjoy each other's company. And physical contact - oh spare us! Won't someone please think of the children?!?! :eyes:
