THis has to do with the thing I see. It is in the form of a tombstone. I think it happens when people either leave or get banned from DU. Could someone tell me what it's about?

Seriously, that is the lovely parting gift given to all the banned ex-DUers.
Some of us think there should be an alternative for those who ask to have their accounts shut off, since not all the graves are filled with actual disruptors--some are just pains in various anatomical places.

2. It is used for any account that is deactivated...

from being a banned freeper, self requested deavtication/resign in protest, disruptor of any idealogy etc.

THe reason why is back in the old days, most people were banned from DU were conservative disruptors. (mainly free republicers, hence the name of the picture dead_freeper.jpg)

Sometimes you may see someone post after a very questionable/dirresive post "granite or marble?" They are remarking that a poster is probably on the way out.
