I've been downsized....

As if my financial situation wasn't F-ed up enough, Friday I was told that I have till the end of the month to find another job.

On the one hand my employer is being really decent about the whole thing. They are giving me a little time to find something new. On the other hand... FUCK!!!

I hate August. In my life everything that has ever happened bad has happened en masse in August. This month blows!

is that at least you are employed during one of the worst months to find a job. August is a big vacation month so job hunting is next to nill.

Hang in there... these times are tough and according the latest figures, there are a lot of us in the same boat.

5. That's one thing that's good about my line of work

It's easy to get another job if you need to. Truck drivers are always in demand. Companies can't keep enough drivers for some reason. It's not the most glamorous work in the country, but it pays the bills.

He's a truck driver. He got laid off because the cars he was carrying aren't selling thanks to our wonderful economy...

When I was downsized, I took it really hard and personal. But it turned out to be one of the best things that ever happened to me. I doubt I would have got off my ass and opened my store if I had not been laid off.
