Did anyone see "The Village"? PLEASE DON'T SPOIL!
But was it any good? I'm hearing mixed reviews...

Roger Ebert hated it, and I'm usually right on w/ him...

1. Saw it last night
The acting was terrible in the first half, but the story was excellent. It was kinda scary, but probably not as scary as you expect.

2. It was not scary
It had scary moments but overall is not a fright flick.

I liked it. The twists I felt were kinda obvious and the film moved VERY SLOWLY but the story was GREAT!

If you don't compare it to M. Night's other works and dont go expecting a horror/suspense film, you should like it.

3. It's not a horror movie.
The trailers are misleading. I can't say too much, but if you scare easily, there might be some scary moments for you. But, that's about it. You'll probably figure out the twist at the end before you get to the end. I figured it out before I saw the movie just from reading reviews, even though they didn't give it away.

I still liked it because of the story.

You'll either love it or you'll hate it.

5. I thought it was about a C movie just for the cinematography.
The movie itself was boring, slow, and pretty easy to figure out. Nothing like, The Sixth Sense or anything. I was pretty damn bored but it did have some decent dialog here and there. My suggestion, wait for the video, it's not worth the money.

8. I saw it on Saturday, and thought it was really, really good.
I figured out the twist before the end, but that just made the last quarter of the movie more enjoyable for me.

If you liked Shymalamadingdong's other movies, you'll probably like this one too, but if you thought the twist endings in "The Sixth Sense" and "Unbreakable" were overly pretentious, then you'll hate how this one ends.

7. I saw it and it was EXTREMELY..........
mediocre. Dissapointing to me because I loved signs and though it looked similar in the previews.

10. I thought it was great.
But it's not a horror movie, not really. It's a fable about people living in fear, and what it does to them. It actually has some applicability to the present political situation.

11. I thought it dragged quite a bit
but it was worth it for the twist at the end. I didn't really see it coming though there was one line that did make me say "Huh? What's going on here?" As with Sixth Sense, once I knew the end I could look back and see the clues.

I took away the same thing library_max did. It's a fable about what fear does to people. And it was most timely.

The Village - A Shocking New Documentary Film Exposes the Dangers of Wicca!

A community of True Christians™ surrounded by a dense forest filled to the brim with bloodthirsty Wiccans. Sound familiar? It could be the Landover Baptist Church – or any Christian community throughout the land. But in this case, it isn't. It is the glorious new film by M. Night Shamading, "The Village." And goodness gracious! Does it ever hit home!
