I have a "Dell Customer Service Sucks" question----
Does anyone have a number for Dell Corporate in Austin? The ones I found on Switchboard.com are no better than the regular toll-free customer service numbers.

I don't want a toll free number but a Texas number where a real person will answer.

They are driving me nuts! This is for home, not business.

Thanks!

1. IF YOU DONT have to run windows.
Buy a Mac. I used to use PC's but made the switch back in 2000. I know Mac has small market share but OS X is hands down the best operating system plus overall Macs i have owned whihc is a total of two have been great.

3. That doesn't help with the $1000 box on top of their desk now.
If you've already invested in a monkeysoft pc, a mac is just throwing more money down the chute. It would be nice if the pc would run long enough to get your money out of it first, then think about a mac.

2. Send a letter ...
directly to Michael Dell telling him the machine sucks and just why it sacks and why you're about to throw it in the garbage and tell everyone you know never to buy a Dell.

If you do it just right without being sidelined as a crank, it gets results.

6.  I think that may be what I'll have to do---registered,return receipt.
I have been lied to so many times by customer service(yes, lies) that I'm fed up.

I am weary from them all!

5. I dealt with them a few years ago on a sales tax issue

They gave me a whole bunch of numbers to use the next time I made a purchase and had the same problem. I did just that about 11 months later. Guess what? The numbers had all been disconnected and referred me to Dell's main customer service number. That was the last Dell I bought and I've been warning all my friends and family to stay away. I buy as a business because businesses tend to get better service from the tech dept of most PC firms. In Dell's case, obviously customer service is not even their third or fourth priority.

On edit: What I'm trying to tell you is that there is little chance of finding a number that will take you to a person without an hour's wait on hold.
