3. They DID??? WHY??
I'm a Yankee fan, but who did they get for Nomara?

Jeez I hope they got more for him than they got for Babe Ruth! :P

5. Boston got a first baseman and a SS, both gold glovers.

Orlando Cabrera of the Expos and Doug Mientkiewicz of the Twins. Nomar went to the Cubs.

Consensus seems to be that it was a bad deal for Boston. Neither player is anywhere near the as good as No-maaah offensively, but both are great defensive players, which we sorely needed considering all the unearned runs the team's allowed this season.

On the other hand, Nomah wanted out and it was pretty much expected that he wouldn't re-sign at the end of the season (also considering he turned down a 15 mil/year contract). The choices were basically to make the trade now, or take a few more months of Nomar and then let him go with nothing in return. I guess it had to be done.

That's pretty much the lowdown. My only beef is that they didn't get some pitching in the deal, which apparently was because of Nomar's gimped Achilles - which will probably in all likelihood be fine now that he's in Chicago.

PS: Repent, Yankee fan!

10. Yes Cabrera did a great job for the Twins on Sunday
it's a pity he plays for Boston.

12. Well, you watch...
I have a feeling Nomar's achilles problems are going to mysteriously vanish now that he's playing for a team other than the Red Sox...

:P

14. But they wouldn't have vanished if he had stayed in Boston
so it's a wash.
