Maybe I can get some non-flame-inviting responses to this question:

I see a sign on Route 228 in Southern Maryland, a long, winding stretch of four-lane road, bordered on both sides by trees, fields, an an occasional house.

The sign is mounted on the mailbox post, above the mailbox so it's in clear view. It's a large piece of plywood, painted bright yellow, with these words in black: "BUSH ZIONIST CABAL STAGED 9/11."

I have no idea what this means. I'm completely ignorant. Figured someone in this forum might know. If perchance it has something to do w/ accusations of anti-Semitism, flames are unwelcome. (So much for that caveat. If you have a non-inflammatory answer, post away. Thanks.

(BTW they've recently added a bumper sticker above the sign: "Bush lied, thousands died." Don't need any help knowing what that means.)

some of the bush people are "jewish" and run the policy of our government. another idea is that the fundy christians rapture bullshit..thus the bush backers in the christian fundementalism churches are now friends with their former enemy the jews..following?..so that`s where you get the b-z-c..of course it helps in this whole thing that there is alot of truth in this idea-other than the 9/11 (maybe) and the person who owns the mailbox is probaly a white power/neo nazi type...

3. The sign poster is anti semetic and is

calling attention to the fact that many neocons in the current Admin are Jewish(Wolfowitz etc.). There is also an urban legend that all Jews working in the World Trade Center were called and told to stay home on 9-11.Supposedly all this is orchestrated by Isreal and the Mossad (sp?) to drag the US into active participation in the ME on the side of Isreal,the idea being we take out the Palestinians. I think this is the theory.So the sign is a new version of contemporary version of the old Jews are controlling everything spin.These people are wackjobs.

8. Truly an urban legend, believable only to someone who

1) knows nothing about New York, and 2) is predisposed to anti-Semitism.

There are literally millions of Jews in the NYC area, and they range from ultra-Orthodox to atheists, and from far right wing to far left wing. There is no conceivable "phone tree" or any other means of communication that could reach all the Jewish employees of the World Trade Center, and besides, if you read the victims' bios in the New York Times, you will know that many, many of them were Jewish.

4. I think it's a reference to a conspiracy theory

that says Bush and Israel MIHOPed 9/11 in order to have a premise to go after enemies of both Israel and the U.S, and to secure the world's energy resources for the U.S. I don't buy into such theories, but I used to read them just out of curiosity.

An interesting aside. A friend of mine told me before the 2000 elections that if Bush was elected we'd be at war with Iraq within a year. He wasn't too far off, but I don't think he ever imagined the scenario that brought us to that point.

5. Its the "Who benefits" theory where the attack on Iraq needed the 911

disaster - since Bush was about to attack Iraq without 911 this doesn't fly -

and the belief that no Saddam helped Israel more than it helped other countries.

So Israel helped take down the WTC - and Bush took it down to improve his poll numbers (this last idea of the CIA helping blow up the WTC is silly - until you recall all the other stuff the GOP has done over the years - recall the very real discussion to kill a media person - Anderson - during Nixon's days - but IMHO - even then - it remains silly)

And those Osama folks are really Mossad agents!

Had proposed downing a plane of college students and blaming cuba, for example. The intelligence community calls staging-terrorism-against-your-own-country-and-blaming-whomever-you-want "sparkle." It was sparkle for example when Putin blew up those moscow apt buildings and blamed (oh, i've forgotten who he blamed).

Also....I think shrub's "pretzel" bruises were right after an israeli visit to the WH. He was pretty cool on israel initially, but seemed to change course after that, or so they say.

Anyway, Israel hated Iraq because saddam gave money to the palestinians (possibly funding their suicide bombers, who noze), so we may have gone after Iraq at Israel's behest.

Some say Sharon said that the US is Israel's puppet. Who knows?

Also, there's that whole angle of "is * trying to bring on the second coming of Christ by helping (somebody's interpretation) of revelations unfold?"

So I *think* the sign you saw maybe refers to that stuff.
