Should i watch Dances with Wolves?
I saw the movie when it first came out, and i would like to see it again. It's on HBO tonight, but in the HBO program description it says it's the "shorter verison." Damnit! I hate when they do that! Should i even bother?

2. I haven't seen it since 1990, or whenever it came out.
It was years ago, but i remember thinking it was a great film. Why didn't you like it?

5. a few reasons
I thought it was way too long. I think Kevin Costner is a pretty bad actor. I found the story sorta dumb - especially the parts with Mary McDonnell.

I just thought it was pretty boring.

4. What, no religious channels to watch?
Or Home Shopping Network?

I'd rather eat my own vomit while buying 100 Hummel figurines than watch that movie again.

6. It could have been good, but it's just too simplistic in its view...
The Sioux are made out to be like hippies, or more elevated versions of human beings. And all the whites in the film (except Costner and Mary McDonnell) are boorish, cruel or insane. Life just isn't that simple, and there's no reality in that.

Also, Costner's Orange County surfer accent doesn't help. And he plays his character too "cute" -- lots of pratfalls, etc.

Costner has improved over the years -- his direction and acting in last year's "Open Range" attest to that.
