Gotta vent just had another fight with my ultra freeper father
Well this morning he sends me an email from one of his co-workers you know the kerry application bit.

So when he got home today I immediately pointed out every lie in it.

So then he says "Look I don't wanna hear this shit they are all phonies Kerry is a fucking phony Bush is a fucking phony, Kerry especially he's nothing but a liberal phony just like the fucking defense lawyers I had to deal with today he's just like them, lemme tell you somethin YOUNG MAN you don't know people like I do you don't see what a phony Kerry is because he just like those asshole defense attourneys I have to deal with"

So I said calmly: "How is he a phony you can't make this argument in a credible way without some back-up dad seriously the man's record which is public speaks for itself"

So he says "this fuckin country has its problems stemming from fucking liberals and phonies like Kerry, so tell me who's gonna shoot the Mexicans crossing the border huh? (totally over-looking the fact that I'M half Mexican from my mother's side) neither Bush or Kerry is gonna do what needs to be done which is shoot all the fuckin mexicans who cross the border, and shoot all the criminals in prison and cut their fuckin tubes so they can't have kids, and KIDS are the problem in this country today, KIDS are the fucking problem"

So I said "You're living in the wrong country then I think because nobody in this country would advocate shooting people who are looking for a better life than the shithole they're stuck with maybe you should move to Saudi Arabia they do things like what you describe as your dream system"

So he says "Yea! I like them then! good that's what we need!"

Then he says "Your friends in the Democrat party they are the worst though they're the ones who say let the terrorists go free oh we need to call the aclu and help them and coddle them"

(Mind you he hates Bush so using F 9/11 arguments type are worthless)

So I said "Well the Republicans have had the power since 2000 what have they done that's so great"

Then he says "you're full of shit the Democrats have blocked every idea from the Republicans THEY have been the ones running things"

I said "Dad since 2000 they've had more power than the Democrats in 2002 they got the majority how the hell could the Democrats have gotten anything their way considering they were outvoted on every issue?"

I got no answer for that just a "Your Democrat friends are the ones responsible for all the bullshit in this country that liberal phony just like Ted Kennedy another asshole who should be shot, and that bitch I work for"

Now to me the irony is that "bitch" who is our county attourney gave him a fuckin job and nice benefits yet since she's a democrat that makes her evil.

So then he says "So is Kerry gonna do something about the fuckin Mexicans?"

I said: "Well he isn't going to have them all shot but-"

Dad: "Yea see! worthless then!"

So I said "Well how about those greedy Republican businessmen who entice the illegals to cross over illegally so they can be cheap labor?"

No answer he walks out and slams the door after ordering me to do his fucking laundery.

I gotta get outta here, just one damn semester till graduation and NO I cannot afford an apartment right now.

Thanks for letting me vent.

1. My dad is very similar but...
I think Ive convinced him to not vote. he said he hates both bush and kerry, but if he were to vote for one of them, he'd choose bush. i may not have gotten another vote for kerry, but i at least got one less vote for bush.

2. Have you read...
Any of the "Dance of" books? Specifically, "Dance of Anger" or "Dance of Connection?" Sounds like you and your father love each other very much, but use the "anger" approach to connect because its safer...? Best, Ida

6. I have a low post count
but I am not a freeper .... But I must ask, because I have long-lived experience with this type of behavior: Is your dad an alcoholic? He may also have a personality disorder because his behavior is extremely abusive, it's NOT NORMAL. Personality disordered people have very little impulse control, they have little seizures. I have some links to PD sites if you are interested. My mother and my ex husband are both PD and I got a lot of help through NAMI (National Association for the Mentally Ill). Dana ; )

Patients suffering from personality disorders have many things in common:

Most of them are insistent (except those suffering from the Schizoid or the Avoidant Personality Disorders). They demand treatment on a preferential and privileged basis. They complain about numerous symptoms. They never obey the physician or his treatment recommendations and instructions.

They regard themselves as unique, display a streak of grandiosity and a diminished capacity for empathy (the ability to appreciate and respect the needs and wishes of other people). They regard the physician as inferior to them, alienate him using umpteen techniques and bore him with their never-ending self-preoccupation.

They are manipulative and exploitative because they trust no one and usually cannot love or share. They are socially maladaptive and emotionally unstable.

Most personality disorders start out as problems in personal development which peak during adolescence and then become personality disorders. They stay on as enduring qualities of the individual. Personality disorders are stable and all-pervasive – not episodic.
They affect most of the areas of functioning of the patient: his career, his interpersonal relationships, his social functioning.

The typical patients is unhappy. He is depressed, suffers from auxiliary mood and anxiety disorders. He does not like himself, his character, his (deficient) functioning, or his (crippling) influence on others. But his defences are so strong, that he is aware only of the distress – and not of the reasons to it.

The patient with a personality disorder is vulnerable to and prone to suffer from a host of other psychiatric problems. It is as though his psychological immunological system has been disabled by his personality disorder and he falls prey to other variants of mental illness. So much energy is consumed by the disorder and by its corollaries (example: by obsessions-compulsions, or mood swings), that the patient is rendered defenceless.

Patients with personality disorders are alloplastic in their defences. They have an external locus of control. In other words: they tend to blame the outside world for their mishaps. In stressful situations, they try to pre-empt a (real or imaginary) threat, change the rules of the game, introduce new variables, or otherwise influence the world out there to conform to their needs. This is as opposed to autoplastic defences (internal locus of control) typical, for instance, of neurotics (who change their internal psychological processes in stressful situations).

The character problems, behavioural deficits and emotional deficiencies and lability encountered by patients with personality disorders are, mostly, ego-syntonic. This means that the patient does not, on the whole, find his personality traits or behaviour objectionable, unacceptable, disagreeable, or alien to his self. As opposed to that, neurotics are ego-dystonic: they do not like who they are and how they behave on a constant basis.

The personality-disordered are not psychotic. They have no hallucinations, delusions or thought disorders (except those who suffer from the Borderline Personality Disorder and who experience brief psychotic "microepisodes", mostly during treatment). They are also fully oriented, with clear senses (sensorium), good memory and a satisfactory general fund of knowledge.

17. Hello, DanaM!
Why did you feel the need to avoid the "freeper" label? Have you been attacked as one here? I'm sorry if you have---some of us (myself included) have had the occasion to have a bit of sport with the freepers. It's a vice.

massive amounts of starch in all his clothes, particularly in his underwear. And what exactly is your dad looking for in a president, someone like Pol Pot? Don't let him get to ya though.

I know how you feel. My parents were Republicans. I also grew up on the Mexican border. I thought for the longest time that the democrats were letting the immigrants in. Until Ronald Reagan became President and immigration exploded. the Vietnamese boat-people, middleasterners, Central America, Chinese, Korean. they just flooded into CA in the 80's. Then Raygun gave amnesty to them all. He also gave illegal immigrants 5% government loans. This is why the blacks burned down their stores in the LA riots.
This is the truth as far as I can tell after 30 years of trying to figure it out.
The fat cat business types want illegal immigration. the industries they represent are farming, construction, Hotels/Restaurants, some manufacturing, landscaping and some retail (Wal Mart).
The liberal politicians want it because they think it will increase their voter base.
The truth is that 70% of the American people want it stopped but it will never happen until the voters figure out what the driving force is. It's money for the Republicans and power for the Democrats.
I would as a far left liberal vote for a constitutional amendment to abolish immigration forever. My reasons are that it bankrupts our public programs, lowers our wages, destroys union jobs and is causing overdevelopment.
The only way to deal with the problem is to get together on it. It doesn't help to blame the liberals alone and not admit that the fat cats have more influence in this matter.
Tell your dad and his friends to write a constitutional amendment. Then call the Sierra Club. Half of their membership will sign it immediately. I hope this helps.
Joan

14. Geez Louise what a nightmare. I share the opinion that he
has serious emotional issues. Being a freeper just allows him to vent hostility. Your Dad has issues but you deserve kudos for steering your way through this. It can't have been easy growing up with your Dad. Hopefully he at some point start dealing with his emotional issues. Wishing the best for you.:toast:

23. Tell him that the Mexicans crossing the border make it possible
for him to be able to afford produce, a restaurant meal, a hotel room.....
Why dont these morons do some research and realize that these "Mexicans" take jobs that white Murikans like him would never take. Hiring Americans to do those jobs at the wages that they would accept would send prices through the roof.

Sorry noahmijo. Your Dad is an ignorant asshole, like most of my family.

26. You know your story brings the point of how conservatives
try to change the subject when the discussion is about their guy (Bush*) and how horrible he's doing. A few co workers of mine a while back started talking about politics and the war and the bush* supporter tried to change the subject by saying that "What is Kerry going to do if he is elected? They all say anything to get elected! blah blah blah!" I think he sensed that the rest of us were going to start bashing his beloved bush*, so he took the notion to interrupt us. LOL! It was sooooooo telling.
