2. ah!
Yeah, I realized my life wasn't that much more enriching sitting in my apartment pretending to have a life. Alas, I shan't have a life until I move back to Vancouver.

3. Let's change your name to "WahWah"
I'm going to be in perpetual winter for the next 4 years because I go to Med school in New Zealand.

My 'summer break' means winter at home. So be happy that you actually HAD a summer this year. Thanks.

4. Could be worse-you could live in Canada, where the days get so very short
Ooops. Sorry. Hey, 5 hours of daylight per day isn't that bad. So what if Siberia is further south and warmer?

It could be worse, you could live in International Falls. In the 1780's. With nothing but untanned beaver pelts to keep warm with. Quit yer whinin.'

9. Here, too, and I live 1,000 miles south of you
Well, maybe less. Tennessee. It sucks no matter where you live. Oh, except you'll be buried under 20-foot snow drifts while I'll be in shorts and t-shirts until December. It sucks to be you. On the other hand, you have a somewhat progressive government that resists the evil totalitarian tactics of Bush's Amerika. Buried under snow, or buried under bullshit. Not much of a choice, I'd say.

Try being at Ocean City, Maryland with hot girls everywhere and being too damn shy to say anything. That said, I had a good time but I am so beat up.

15. The worst part about living in the north
I've been noticing it too. Hot days, but the nights ... they're getting cooler, and soon, you know what that means. Fucking turtle-necks and sweaters. All the time. Damn it!:D

Ah, what we sacrifice to live in this green paradise.:D

16. I love it when it gets dark early
Besides the extra hour of sleep gained when we go off Daylight Savings Time in October, I love it when it's dark at 5 p.m. It always feels like it's bedtime, but then I realize I have about 8 more hours to stay up and study, read, etc. etc. Call me crazy. I've only met 1-2 other people in my life who share my opinion.

22. but at least you get to wear those clothes
it got so hot here early, I didn't get to wear any of my spring clothes and boots. Straight to the shorts. And it probably won't be cool here (Pittsburgh) til October. :)

17. Always makes me sad that it starts with the FIRST DAY OF SUMMER!
The summer solstice (june 21-ish) seems wayyyyyyy to early for this to start.

19. But the days start getting longer after Dec. 21!
that was a revelation for me when I really 'thought' about it, as was 6/21 opposite. I honestly never really gave it a passing second until about 15 yrs. ago.

20. Sure does suck.
And you know what else? I got up at 5AM for piss-call, and it was still dark out. OK, so I could see across the street, but the Sun was NOT up yet.

And it's gone by 8:15...Time to check the bike lights or take shorter rides...

21. Yes and no.
Yes, because shorter days mean a return to work, and no daylight left to do the things that bring me joy once the work day is over.

No, because I don't do well in the heat, and shorter days mean a return to my favorite season, autumn. Crisp, clear, and mild.

25. The equalizer is the winter solstice - Dec 21, the shortest day of the
year and the first day of winter - but each day gets longer after that until the summer solstice. Ain't that nice?
