Verily, how do lowsides suck?
Let me count the ways.

1. Because the coefficient of friction between my ass and the asphalt is higher than between the metal and fiberglass of my bike and the asphalt, I get to watch my bike slide away from me.

2. Field expedient repairs are usually hastily planned and sometimes cause more damage. What the hell, I have to make it home.

3. Broken rearset, broken levers I can deal with. New bodywork is going to be expensive.

4. My protective gear now is now somewhat beyond the expiration date.

5. Nothing like some grumpy guy coming out of his apartment and cussing me out for waking him up. I'm sorry your work on the night shift dude, but it's not like I planned to interrupt your much-needed beauty sleep.

P.S. Good thing I didn't have my new hardcases attached. That would have been insult to injury.

1. Bruised and sore, yet shamless self-aggrandizement kick
Hell of a year so far. Lost my dad, lost my job, now my bike is limping along.

No hugs?

Well, In That Case
Here's another

I hope you (and your bike) aren't too badly injured.

6. It was a pretty tame wipeout
I've had a lot worse in my day.

But damn, the bad luck just keeps on coming. First, my dad loses his fight with brain cancer, then I lose my job and get diagnosed with some kind of thyroid disease. Then our car gets T-boned out of commission. Next I choke on a nice thick T-Bone and have to go to the emergency room.

And *now* my bike needs repair three weeks before the semester starts.

Crap.

I hereby tempt the Demon of Famous Last Words by saying it couldn't get any worse.

4. That sucks, but look at it this way:
It's better than a highside, and you're still around to ride again. ;)

So the big question is: What did you learn?

5. I did not go over the high side
And I am counting my blessings!

The lessons I learned today are:

1. Check proper tire pressure before riding.

I had the significant other on the back yesterday and had my tires inflated for two up riding, but I hadn't bled out extra pressure before going out solo today.

2. Stay out of that oily strip in the center of the lane.

I think this is where I lost traction going around the bend.

3. Pay attention to what's going on.

I've had the rear end slide out from under me a time or two before, but this was so fast I had no time to react.
