Help! Best things to do in Laguna, California??
I'll be there next Monday through Wednesday, staying at some big resort (I forget the name). My partying/bar-hopping days are behind me, but could someone mention good restaurants and any intersting things to see or do? (I've been told I HAVE to check out Pageant of the Masters, which is going on now, I think).

Thanks for your help!

3. Laguna Beach is my dream home ...
Edited on Thu Aug-05-04 03:44 PM by Trajan
Moss Street Beach is so damned wonderful ... Some call it 'Thousand Steps' beach ... It's been a while since I've been there, so Im sure it has changed ... You will CERTAINLY find great food and culture just about anywhere in Laguna ....the beach down from Victor Hugo's is also tremendous, Main Street Beach is a great place to just sit and watch ... Laguna is perhaps the best beach in SO Cal ...

Damn: Im green with envy ....

9. It's been a while ...
Moss Street was a favorite of ours in our high school days ...

Heck: hardly ANYONE there .... great skin diving there ... great tidepools too ...

It's a gay beach: I have no problem with that: except not seeing girls in french cut thongs .... chuckles ....

We used to stay at the Laguna Riviera Hotel: with the Indoor pool and the great ocean view rooms ... it was so reasonably priced then ...

Laguna Beach is a Chunk O'Heaven, to be sure ....

4. Do you like to hike? I live in the area
There is a great trail at the top of Alta Laguna...which you get to by following Park to the end and turning left.

There is lots of shopping and great art stores.

There is a place called The Marine Room that has great music.

YOu need tickets to Pageant of the Masters, but the exhibits from the Sawdust Festival and the other art shows are separate...

7. Also San Juan Capistrano is a few miles away
The El Adobe Restaurant is part of the old Orange County Seat where the original jailhouse is.

There are old California homes you can go through and Mission SJC is interesting

8. Go to The Cottage.
A lovely little restaurant -- used to be a house -- on PCH.

And you're absolutely right: If it's on now (I don't remember when they run it) you must see the Pageant of the Masters. They also have the Sawdust Festival in Laguna, but I don't think it's on right now.

Enjoy, and know that this native southern Californian is insanely jealous.

I knew it: within 15 minutes, I've got tons of ideas. I thank you all.

You all rock and I know that, like me, you will never stop thinking of ways to harm this country.
