Question about blood tests
Exactly how long is marijuana detectable in a blood test anyway?
I've heard that it is a relatively short period. Under 24 hours.

True? Not true? What's the word fellow DU tokers?

1. I heard it takes about 30 days for the drug
to leave your system. They do have a lot of "drinks" you can buy over the counter at drug stores that will flush the drug from your system in a short time, some in less than 24 hours.

A friend of mine smoked pot the night before his drug test but drank this stuff and he passed.

I'm sorry I don't have any links or names of the drinks for you.

2. Depends on the test
There can be trace amounts of MJ in your blood for up to 6 months. If you are a chronic user, even years.

But for all practicality (IE work related drug tests) the thresholds are so high, you'll be fine after a week.

4. Please note
that I'm not asking how long it stays in your blood.

I am asking how long it will be detectable by common blood tests.

It's looking like 2 weeks is a very good period to wait from what I can gather.

5. Depends a lot on frequency of use...
I have had tests come back negative after 5 days, and some positive after over three weeks.

7. Interesting
I tend to smoke pretty frequently but the amount I smoke is much less than normal.

I can get really high on one medium puff. (I save tons of money cause I can make a little pot last a looooong time)

So, would the frequency be countered by the fact that the amount is so small? We're talking 3 puffs a day.

8. Ok, frequency may be wtong...
Long term exposure levels.

Although I do not know the effect of smaller amounts on the half-life of the THC.

The THC content of the product one uses has a definite effect on the length of detectability. As does the type of test.

YMMV

9. Thanks for the input
It's not a matter of extreme importance for me actually.

I'm participating in a medical study and they'll be taking blood every 4 weeks so I was just wondering if I could still indulge.

I think I'll just abstain for the next 18 weeks to be safe.

10. Every four weeks...
with that regularity, it is likely that you will get at least one positive.

We used to run about a 10% false positives with urinalysis with one lab we used. Changed that. Gas chromotgraphy is expensive.

6. I've heard 2-5 days
The THC stored in fat cells isn't detectable in blood as long as it is in urine. It is instantly detectable after you smoke though. If you haven't smoked in a long time, you could test negative up until a few hours after you smoked pot.
