Interesting things you can learn from hot tub repairmen....

When I was young, I used to hear that blond people who spent a lot of time in pools could get a greenish tint to their hair. They always blamed the chlorine.

Well, the hot tub repairman came by and apropos of nothing at all, told me that's not true. Chlorine is just a bleach - it can only make your hair lighter.

The problem was in all older pools and spas, all the pipes were copper. The chlorine and other chemicals would slowly leach some copper into the water, and if you spent a LOT of time in the water, the copper itself would turn your hair slightly green.

It's not a problem in any new pools or spas that use PVC plumbing.

yes, this one. He was very good and informative.

I've had this tub three years - I found out I only had half my jets on full-force. He showed me how to boost 'em. I thought they were GREAT before... now they're phenomenal.
