What is the best thing/part about where you live?
Its about 70+ here in Soldotna in Alaska and very warm. Its very still and quiet. Lots of tourists in the summer, which is very cool because they're always so THRILLED to be here. Nice blend of wilderness and civilization.

39. I grew up in Seattle and lived in NJ for ten years.
Actually I liked the "Fuck You" upfrontness of NJ- much preferable to the back-stabbing self-righteousness of many of the Seattle folk I knew. People are superficially much more friendly but I find that often disguises some seriously passive-aggressive resentment. In NJ they just flip you off, call you an asshole and you can both move past it.

And I lived in Seattle before the 1985 cut-off so I know you can't blame it all on the Californians.

6. My family is close by
That's really about it.

My town is small, blue-collar but it's where I was born and raised. My folks know a lot of people in town and most of my family live there or in the surrounding towns.

It is about 10 miles from New Haven
About and hour and a half from NYC
and 3 hours from Boston
so
it's close to some exciting cities.

I do live though in a nice neighborhood but in other parts of the town it is very run down and it's somewhat lower class.

11. The best part about living in NJ
Close proximity to both NY and Philly. Short drive to the Jersey shore, and anyone who has spent a summer evening on the boardwalk knows there is nothing better than a greasy slice of pizza and a soft serve for dessert. Great Italian food and a few hours away from New England (which is my favorite vacation spot)

13. The absolute decadence of New Orleans and its inhabitants.
If you can stand heat and humidity, and giant flying cockroaches that look like Tom DeLay, then you'll like it here.

Booze 24/7, dozens of live bands every night, Mardi Gras, EXCELLENT food, c'est la vie attitude. You'll also like all the big live oak trees that were here since the Battle for New Orleans, a very large zoo, riverboats, street cars (trolley), lots neat things and friendly people.

We have malls galore, shopping everywhere. We have boutiques and department stores, we have everything from computers to hamsters to furniture.

What we don't have is peace, quiet and nature. This suburb (in NJ, south) is so over developed, for the most part, as are surrounding towns, that is almost enuf to want to move to the Dakotas.......uh, almost.
