Who else has a massive pile of CDs next to their stereo?
I am organizing it into piles of "listen to a whole whole lot" & "listen to a lot, but not quite as much" -- I expect this filing system to last a week at most... Screw alphabetizing...

1. And I rarely play any of them. Too much trouble (or so it seems..)
The ironic thing is that I love music but somehow the whole CD thing seems overwhelming to me. I just say "screw it" and walk by them all and my Harmon-Kardon thingee - too hard to use.

4. I don't understand my CD player AT ALL...
when I finally got my first CD player, I hit "scatter" on the remote and I thought all the new CDs were in different order from the old LPs. Well, I finally got used to my old player (though I still don't understand why it's all arrows, no words such as "play", "stop", "pause", etc.) That CD player broke and so I got another one but this one is worse! I have no idea how it works! There is literally not one word on it or on the remote that describes what's going on. Why can't it say AM and FM? Why is everything arrows and no text? If I listen to CDs, it's in the bathroom where the boombox is. Yes, I listen to all my music in the bathroom. Sometimes I haul the boombox to the kitchen and listen there, but then I have to sit across the room from the music or stand next to it (old house, few plugs.) I suppose I have to get another one, but this was the only one that didn't freak me out with a giant colored LED display. This one does say, "hello" when I manage to turn it on, which is the ultimate in sarcasm if you ask me.

5. Solution
I've got a 400 CD-changer. Yes, it takes a bit of effort to enter them, but once in there, you can play anything you want with the mere push of a button, group them by style, shuffle songs or albums, make a hit list, etc. It's really great!

Our next project is to do the same thing but on hard drive. The CD changer is almost full and we've got tons of CDs we haven't entered yet.

7. I've burnt hundred's of CD's
lots of live stuff, lots of CD comps, other CD's etc. Problem is I rarely title anything. It can be a joyous crapshoot! :)

8. Yeah, I do that too--
you know, I say I'll label it "later" -- uh-huh

Not to mention those horrible little jewel cases that have no space for a side label --- ugh! They all look the same
