Dammit, I can remember when they only did the pledge thing twice a year, in December and March, and it only lasted one fucking week.

and we HATE them, because PBS stops showing our favorite Britcoms on Saturday nights when they do it.

AND you are right, they are doing it more and more often all the time.

the PBS station, when they do "beg drives", will play "specials"...only they don't tell you what the "specials" are in the tv listings!

One of my roommates in college like to prank call the pledge drives. Occasionally, the camera would focus in on the poor sap who got to answer his call.

5. Starving PBS forces them to grovel for MORE corporate funding

I listened to some NPR this morning and the sponsors were WalMart, the company that does outsourcing, and some other big-ass evil corporation.

Not sure if us individuals have enough cash to crowd out the corporate sponsors... but it might be worth giving it a shot.

Personally, I'd prefer to support it through taxation
