I'm officially "old"!
I have a kid who is taller than me. Actually, I'm not that old, I just had her when I was 20, but I digress. My dear daughter has surpassed by a 1/4 of an inch her 5' 4&1/2" mother in the past couple of weeks. At least I have double the wardrobe now. I get her hand me downs. When it's uncool for a 7th grader to wear last years clothes, her 32 year old mother can look extremely cool in the same ones. :D

Now, if she can only grow another 4 or 5 inches, that basketball scholarship should work out. (She makes excellent freethrows BTW.)

If I'm lucky, I'll make it to 50 too. Better than the alternative.

11. Oooh
Welcome to the "pre old coot" club. I was recently told I was too young at 50 to be a "real" geezer. So, welcome and good luck learning how to geeze.

that your fifties are life's best decade! My grandparents were right about most things, so I think it's safe to trust them on this. ;-)

8. shorty!
eh basketball is a great game, I was the Shaq of my day at free throws though, now rebounding and stealing the ball was my skill and I had a weird shot. Heh youre getting your daughter's hand me downs, my dad wears my T's sometimes so youre not alone in wearing your kid's clothes.

10. I'm actually the average women's height.
Your tall though, huh? We have such variety in my family. Both my grandfathers are well over 6 feet and so are my uncles, but my dad is only 5'7" (his mom was 5') and my daughter's dad is about 5'8".

12. taller than most in my family
Edited on Sat Aug-07-04 01:56 PM by JohnKleeb
yes, I am 6'0 around 200 pounds I guess. Actually though my feet is what makes me big first, I had a period where my feet were growing all the time, Ive had bigger feet than my dad for the longest time, hes "5'12" in height, about an inch shorter than me but most of his brothers are shorter. On another thing about being tall, ask your daughter about this one, she may still feel like shes normal height or even short, I didnt realize how tall I had gotten after my major spurt as a freshman until I was playing basketball in gym and I was taller than many.

30. I got one of those too
My oldest son turned 14 in February. As of today, he's 6'2", 215lbs.
Drinks a GALLON of 2% milk PER DAY. Eats at least 4 oranges, as many apples as he can get a hold of, and of course any junk food that's around the house also. We figure he alone is 1/3 of our food bill each week for a family of five (plus 2 dogs, 3 cats, a rabbit and two pet rats).

18. Wait until you hit 35
It's kind of a shocking milestone.

I first starting feeling old when songs from high school ended up on the "retro" lunch hour on radio stations. Now songs from college are on there!:D

23. My sister is 5'4", her 12 year old daughter zoomed by her
and is still going, at 16 she's now 5'10". My 13 year old niece (same family) is also towering over her mother at 5'6"; she's still growing too. Their dad is 6'7" so I have a feeling the girls are going to be quite tall once they stop growing (my youngest niece already wears a size 11 shoe).

Their dad was a basketball player (now a coach) but the girls are ace volleyball players. The oldest one has been scouted by several of the UNo.Carolina schools... a good thing, too, b/c my sister and brother in law are teachers and haven't been able to save much for college. V-ball scholarship, here we come!

24. My daughter outgrew me while she was still in elementary school.
Her feet outgrew mine when she was in 3rd grade.

At 24 she's fond of saying she's 5'11" but I know she's 6 ft tall. I'm 5'2 at 42 but I stopped growing years ago.

I still have some of my daughter's hand-me-downs. They must be 15 years old now and they still fit!

28. Geezing lessons
Edited on Sun Aug-08-04 01:15 PM by DancingBear
1) Learn the following phrases:

My bones hurt
I have to go to the bathroom
I can't find my keys
I used to be able to eat that

2) Get at least two pairs of glasses

3) Blame everything on somebody else

If that doesn't work, pretend you're young!
Works for us, especially Mrs. DB, who still wears 3 1/2 - 4" heels to work.
(What a woman..)

Sincerely,
Mr. Geezer (age 50) and Mrs. G, 51.

34. You Can Always Do What I Did . . .
When my two daughters passed me up (one is 3" taller, the next is 5" taller), I just went and had 2 more! So, for a while at least, I'm not the shortest one in the house.
