Some In Maine Come Out Against Jenna Bush Fish Catch
By Chauncy Yardman Bloaters News Service 08-AUG-04
Some of the people in Maine when First Daughter Jenna caught a 38-inch bass are questioning the circumstances of how and even if the event occurred.
The Bush White House responded that who cares if it is true or not, the President is proud and Jenna happy.
Sam Quinn, a Secret Service supervisor of the Kennebunkport detail said that he never received any report of any fish being caught aboard the Bush vessel.
“I was told they threw a line in the water,” said Quinn. “That’s all. Nothing about a fish.”
Quinn said that as the Secret Service supervisor of the Bush compound, he would have been informed if any game fish were caught during a presidential outing.
Quinn said that he would have to support the claims of a group started later in the day called ‘Fishermen for Truth’. The group is prepared to raise money to buy advertising in sporting magazines in battleground states questioning the circumstance under which Jenna Bush caught a 38-inch bass.
The group said it will also publish a pamphlet, “Unfit to Fish: Fishermen Speak Out Against Jenna Bush” being written by Nils O' Johnson, who has fished the waters around Kennepunkport for years.
George W. Bush contends that the Fishermen for Truth organization is being created for this year’s election to destroy what little truthfulness is still accredited to the Bush family.
Nils O'Johnson said he is raising the issue because Jenna Bush is now out on the campaign trail. O'Johnson said that “deep in my heart I felt a call to come out now and refute these falsehoods. A sometimes drunk, daughter of a moron like Bush, saying how great her dad is scares the hell out of me.”
Retired fishing boat captain Hugh Huffroy of Portland, Maine, said he began immediately organizing the anti-Jenna group just moments after the news wire photo of Jenna holding the fish hit the internet. He said already the group has fifteen members, all Maine sports fishermen.
Huffroy once piloted the Bush yacht when the first George Bush was in office. Huffroy said that he is embittered that Jenna Bush catches one fish and gets her picture spread all over the world.
“I know thousands of fishermen who have caught much better fish than that one and have never received any recognition,” Huffroy said. “It is aloof, arrogant, and selfish for Jenna Bush and her spoiled rotten father to make such a big fuss out of this.”
