When did Bill O'Reilly lose his mind?
I stopped watching O'Reilly and HANNITY and colmes about a year ago as I couldn't stand either show. I read the transcripts instead.

Tonight I was bored and watched Tim Russert on CNBC. His guests were Paul Krugman and O'Reilly. And as I watched, it dawned on me that Bill O'Reilly had, pardon my swearing, lost his fucking mind. Seriously. I know a little something about paranoid delusions, and O'Reilly came across as a guy who has forgotten to take his anti-psychotic medicine, like Seroquel. And he still calls Al Franken "Stuart Smalley," which seems to me a tad bit childish, and he's convinced everyone is out to get him. What the hell is wrong with O'Reilly? Did he develop a tumor? When I used to watch him he never seemed literally crazy. Now he does. Has something happened to him that drove him over the edge?

1. He has always seemed totally nuts to me.
He has ranted since his very first show. He has gotten worse, though.

3.  Did he develop a tumor?
I don't think that would do it. Might be attributed to a nervous breakdown, or a series of little strokes.

4. I don't know, he just seems off his rocker
The interview with Russert was so disjointed. Paul Krugman tried to remain calm while O'Reilly yelled and huffed and puffed every time he spoke. It was bizarre. Krugman would say something, O'Reilly would respond that it was a "slam" against him, or Fox News, and then O'Reilly would rant for two-three minutes calling Krugman names, slamming the New York Times, and generally acting crazy. Really crazy.

6. Remember, in the end he is a highly paid actor
The confusion naturally arises when the setting looks like journalism and they are discussing otherwise important events. He is no more sincere about this than the wrestlers in the WWF. The intent is to stir people up and increase their ratings, not to solve any problems. Unfortunately public opinion is swayed by this hokum, some people actually believe that scripted nonsense.

8. That's funny because I just talked to a Republican acquaintance
and I asked him about if he saw O'Reilly on Russert and wondered what he thought because I wanted to hear his reaction. I couldn't believe my ears. He totally twisted the whole thing around and said this Krugman couldn't back any of his accusations up and that Krugman was going off the deep end. I didn't see it but he told me the complete opposite story than what I've read on DU today!!! LOL

I just listened. These people like to start arguing about how they think things are. He went on and on and it wasn't worth it. It's amazing how differently people can see things from their worldview.

10. These programs are "entertainment" only

The jabs are so fast and furious that all sides reach a different conclusion. At least the WWF doesn't falsely represent themselves. Notice that responsible serious important officials never go on these show. It would be undignified.

5. He is the most hate filled person on this planet.
I have never seen such anger displayed on national TV before. He totally loses it all the time. There must be a deep seated problem he has. He needs to go one on one with a good shrink. Oh and my take on him calling Al Franken Stuart Smalley is his suttle way of calling him a "fag". He always feels the need to belittle someone and be as harsh and rude to them as he can. He has definately got a major mental problem.

11. The day Al Franken confronted him on his lying at the Book Expo.
Dishonest propagandists, like O'Reilly, Hannity and Limbaugh, have long been enabled by the so-called "liberal media," which have for at least the last two and a half decades refused to expose right-wing liars as liars. In the Bizarro Media World, if a "journalist" actually points out the truth -- that O'Reilly et al are pathological liars -- then that "journalist" gets stigmatized as having a liberal bias. Or, worse yet, a "Clinton apologist."

And your career goes up in smoke.

In such a twisted environment, only those outside "journalism" can expose the liars: comedians like Franken and Jon Stewart; generally honest, left and left-of-center propagandists like Michael Moore and Robert Greenwald (director of "Outfoxed"); and a New York Times columnist who has a secure day job as a world-renowned economist, Paul Krugman.

On that day at the Book Expo, Franken exposed O'Reilly as a liar and bullying thug, using facts and logic. Ever since then, O'Reilly has gone completely bonkers, because, given his rigid personality, he can neither admit his lying nor apologize for it. Apparently he knows no other strategy than to try to bully and lie himself out of trouble, which of course only makes him look crazier.

13. Nice post, monchie
I think you've nailed it right on the head. I saw that deal with him and Franken and let me tell you I thought O'Reilly was going to take a swing at Franken. Probably would have if not for the audience.
