10. Spanish Prisoner was great, as was Glengarry...
...I personally can't stand David Mamet's work, except for those two movies. He has the ability to reduce great actors to inanimate 2x4s, but I don't think that's possible for Steve Martin.

4. All of Me
Classic Martin especially when he's having to walk, talk, or just act as half a man and half a woman.

You don't have listed "Three Amigos," though which I think you should. For some reason I watched that movie every weekend I went home to mom's during my college career.

Great scene:
All the bad guy bandidos are having a feast in their hideout (a former monastery that they took over after killing all the monks) to celebrate the birthday of their leader, El Guapo (the Handsome One). The time period is around 1912, and they're all dressed in dirty, tough clothes - the better to ride horses all day, and they're in hot Mexico. His second in command presents him with a gift that he and all the boys chipped in on. El Guapo opens the gift and holds it up for everyone to see and exclaims genuinely pleased, "A sweater! They got me a sweater!"

7. Gotta be "Planes, Trains & Automobiles"...
...probably te best 'buddy' comedy since Laurel and Hardy!

"You're messing with the wrong guy!"

Neil - "He says we're going the wrong way"

Dell - "That's ridiculous...he's drunk...how would he know where we're going?"

Neil - "Yeah...how would he know where we're going?!"

9. and that moment...
...right afterwards, when they're driving between the two semis, and Martin looks over at Candy, who's dressed in a devil costume, laughing manialcally. Note, it's not a convincing, hollywood-level devil costume, it's the cheap kind somone like Dell would rent for a costume party.

11. Oh come on people! How could you possibly forget about.....
"Leap of Faith??" That's one of my all time favourites -- he plays a crooked tent preacher, Jonas Nightengale. Their bus breaks down and they have to spend some time in this woebegone prarie town. He comes in all glitz and glitter and proceeds to do his usual dirty work until he meets this local girl and her crippled brother.

I won't spoil the fun, but if you haven't seen it, you GOTTA! Period.

It has one of the best endings ever.

13. I love most of them, but I had to go with "All Of Me." "LA Story" and
Dirty Rotten Scoundrels are two that I watch a lot, too, and I have them both on DVD (the only reason I haven't added All Of Me to the DVD collection yet is that it's not yet avbailable in widescreen. LA Story really does a great job of encapsulating Los Angeles.

Recently saw Bowfinger and I loved it. Excellent stuff, from both Steve (acting and writing) and from Eddie in his two divergent roles. Another one that skewers LA and the entetainment industry with perfect accuracy and a great deal of affection.

15. Steve Martin sucks
I was a big fan for LP days and the Jerk - all down hill from there. Fame got to him and ruined his head. LA Stories is an attrocity.

19. "Pennies from Heaven" and "Leap of Faith"
These pictures gave Steve Martin the opportunity to demonstrate his many talents and dimensions as an actor. They didn't "fit" his comedy persona and he was really impressive with how he filled out the roles and interacted with the other characters. And hey, he can dance!

The Jerk is American comedy cinema at its finest.
