1st night game at Wrigley Field: 8/8/88
I almost forgot about this significant anniversary! Thankfully, Yelladawg posted a thread in The Meeting Room:

Did anyone else see the game that night? Of course not. There wasn't a game -- it was rained out and actually played 8/9/88. Mark Grace and others were fined for playing "Slip 'n Slide" on the tarp covering the infield. What a memory!

1. Thanks for that
I remember waiting with anticipation for that game and took great delight in watching it on TV from here in Oklahoma.

Didn't they play a day game that same day?

2. Of course it was rained out!
It was a sign from God.

Baseball should be played in the daytime, in God's sunshine, in God's ballpark, Wrigley Field.

3. Bart Giamatti called Wrigley Field "The Cathedral of Baseball"
ITA. It's my favorite place to be on a summer day.

4. I still have that on tape!
That is, the actual game from the next night - I remember being kind of sad, because I saw my first game at Wrigley in '83, and felt an era was truly over. At least we won that game!
