You had one eye in the mirror as you watched yourself go by. Mick Jagger is stuck on himself but i believe Warren Beatty was also the same way.

57. More stuff on Warren
Girlfriends I can remember are Michelle Phillips (Mamas and the Papas), Lesley Ann Warren (whose husband mentioned Warren in his divorce papers when he divorced Lesley Ann), Stephanie Seymour, Leslie Caron, Diane Keaton, Faye Dunaway, Natalie Wood and Joan Collins.

Quotes about Warren:
former fiancée Joan Collins said that he was "the only man to get to the mirror faster than me"

"Whenever I go on a talk show I am invariably asked about Warren Beatty's sex life," Rex Reed once remarked. "I have a stock answer: 'He should be in a jar at the Harvard Medical School!'"

I just remembered that Hugh Hefner was one of the possible candidates for You're So Vain.

Which could be Mick Jagger James Taylor ,Warren Beatty or even Cat Stevens ,who she also dated. Giggle. I think it might be Taylor. It is probably someone she didn't care for at the time and it is well known that Taylor had ego problems(as well as a heroin addiction!) and used to put Carley down.

"Your" is possessive, as in "your books."

"You're" is the contraction for "you are," which is what the title means. You are so vain.

"Get a life honey" if that's all you have to do is correct everyone elses spelling and grammer.

Also, I am not an English major and I have never pretended to being one either.

Something is wrong with someone that gets off on finding fault in others.

This is a message board not an English test.

Most of us see mistakes that others make but we bite our tongue and we don't say anything.

I am not one to point out others mistakes or try to find them either.

Duly noted that you are a bit sensitive about it.

Edited to add I never got off on anything, I just thought I'd be a bit helpful. Pretty clear you didn't want it. Whatever. But don't assume there's something wrong with me, I tried to be as nice about it as I possibly could.

Find fault in yourself and try to correct it. I would start by not correcting others if i were you because you will be much happier that way.

When you don't look for fault in others you can be a happier person in your life.

35. You are obviously
EXTREMELY sensitive about this, as evidenced by your very sarcastic, bitter post below.

You might want to look into just taking words for what they are and taking them at face value.

The reason I say that is there was no judgement involved in my post. None at all. I am not stupid enough to see misuse of a word as a character flaw. Anyone who does is just wrong.

I simply saw it as misuse of a word. And a very common misusage, too. Again, no judgement involved, thus my very careful couching of the original message to you.

You completely assume I was LOOKING for fault in you. ("When you don't look for fault in others you can be a happier person in your life.") Thank you but I am a very happy person. You think my pointing out your very simple, very common misusage of a word and telling you how to do it correctly is some kind of slam on you PERSONALLY, some kind of value judgement on you and it was nothing of the kind. But again, this seems to be a very sensitive area for you.

Let's call it a truce right now and stop bickering.

People don't like to be corrected and I am speaking for others as well as myself.

Try to find something else to say and hold your tongue when it comes to telling someone that they have made grammatical errors.

Correcting someone is taking away from a message board and not adding to it.

Correcting someone on an issue that they are wrong about is one thing but finding fault with grammatical errors is another thing.

I didn't assume anything about you it was your message and it was blunt and rude.

42. Blunt and rude?
You repeated the same thing you've been saying, then asked to call a truce, then called my post "blunt and rude." Well, I guess now I get to call your posts passive-aggressive.

My original post even said "This is nothing personal." Then I simply explained the use of your and apologized in advance for any offense. How is that hard to understand??? If you didn't like it, all you had to say was "thanks, but no thanks" or have a sense of humor about it or something. I've been corrected on my spelling on internet boards, too, and I just laugh and say "thanks" or "guess I wasn't paying attention", especially when it's obvious they are trying to be nice about it.

Instead, you accused me of "getting off" on finding fault in others, which is not true and was not the basis of my post at all.

I could accept your "rude" assessment if I had said something like: "Hey sweetie, didn't you pass sixth grade English?"

Might I respectfully submit that this is a very sensitive issue for you (as I have said before) and that it is coloring your response? That is understandable, especially if English was never your thing. You are in good company, if that is the case.

It has been duly noted by me that VoteDemocratic2004 responds in a rather hostile manner to even the nicest suggestions concerning his or her spelling/grammar.

What do you get out of correcting someone Else's grammatical errors?

Is it to show that you are better then they are at speaking and writing or that you know more then the person that posted the message.

What is it that you get out of pointing out errors?

Tons of people make errors but when we write especially on a political website we have so much passion in us that we don't have time to stop and see if we have dotted all of our i's and crossed all of our T's.

Can you please tell me what it is that you get out of correcting someone Else's grammatical errors? Why don't you send them a PM instead of posting it for everyone to see? Can you answer that question?

43. What do I get out of it?
Edited on Sun Aug-08-04 04:09 PM by Moonbeam_Starlight
Nothing. Again, you are assuming an awful lot with regard to motivation, meaning, etc.

Your/you're is a common mistake. But it is not just a spelling mistake, it affects the meaning. On the internet, we don't have our voices, only our written words. So when the mistake threatens to obscure meaning, it's pretty important to know how to fix that. In your case, your/you're isn't going to kill an argument, but I know many people look at that mistake and blow off the person's MESSAGE because of their error. I do not. But others do; it's quite common.

So I thought I'd simply offer that up, with a warning that it was not to be taken personally AND an apology in advance for any offense it might cause.

If you read it without the emotional feelings it seems to stir up for you, you'll see that it was not meant with any harm at all. Just take it at face value.

If anything, I was hoping you'd get something out of it, but I doubt you have, other than hurt feelings. That's too bad, as that obscures what I was trying to say.
