1. My sister's 55 pound golden/ridgeback cross terrifies a 110 lb.bulldog

owned by a friend of her husband's. Can't be too nasty! Most I have met are very sweet dogs. They just always look, well, hungover.

usu sweet animals, very fond of kids, & are too tough to even notice kid-abuse.

loyal & good watchdogs.

bred to fight bulls by clinging to the throat until the bull suffocates. they have amazing neck strength, but feel no particular challenge to other dogs, unlike most pits.

drawback: they drool like jenna on a bender.

4. The ones I've known have been nice as pie
And they really seemed too waddle-y and drooly and snorty to do harm even if they'd intended any. They breath as though they were born with asthma. I suppose looks (and sounds) can deceive.

5. My son was bitten by one several years ago... (warning-morbid story)
The owners did little to socialize it or train it. It was a crazy fucking dog.

It jumped up and grabbed my son by the forearm, and it wouldn't let go. I had to beat it in the head to get it to let go. My son was carrying a balloon, and it freaked the dog out.

The dog drown a year later. It jumped into a pool to fetch a beachball and it couldn't swim--it was so heavy on its head end that it couldn't stay above water.

I don't blame the dog for all of this...I blame the owners, who take poor care of all of their dogs. As a side note, the owner bought a female EBD a short while after the other one drown, and he let her roam wild while she was in heat. She had puppies after her first heat, and they all died but one, and that one got the mange, so he bashed the puppy against a tree and buried it.

And now she's preggers again. God help his pets.

6. Or YOU can help the pets

7. That's the stickler...
The only animal control we have in my area is in a neighboring city. The county supervisors have refused to even build a pound for abandoned/stray dogs that are a real problem in rural areas. Beyond the city limits, there is nothing that can be done, as far as animal control. And this guy lives way beyond the city limits.

I talked to a sheriff's deputy friend of mine about this. That is what he told me.

12. Oh they are both ADORABLE
ROTF Is that a great pic or what LOL. I have always wanted a bulldog. Never met a mean one or one I didn't like :-) But since I won't purchase one from a breeder or petshop and since they aren't a very common breed around where I live,,, <sigh> If someday I happen across one that needs a good home, I'll take it. Course I say that about most animals. But I really would LOVE to have a bulldog. How could you not love that face :loveya:

13. No, just ugly and inbred
I don't know why people think that bulldogs are some great symbol of British nationhood.
