I'm annoyed, they won't let me apply for a advertised job
I saw an ad in the Sunday paper for a job that I would like that is in the same town that I am in now. The ad said that I should apply at the plant. I dressed up and took my resume to the plant. The security guard knew nothing about the ad saying that all applications were through the job service. I showed him the ad. He called someone who evidently knew what was going on and said that I had to apply at the job service.
Since there isn't a job service in my town and it is a significant drive, I just called the job service. They don't know anything about the position. I am majorly frustrated.
The ad also lists a fax number. I have access to a fax machine. Should I fax my resume? Would that be too pushy?

1. go for it
I don't think it's too pushy... besides, how else would they even find out you wanted the job? It's not like you're decreasing your chances in any way.

2. Not at all - fax away, and ask for clarification on the ad too.

6. Keep in mind
that many job advertisements are placed to keep the company in line with the law. If they have the person they want already from within, the ad is run to show they 'advertised'.
Keep your chin up,, it is really tough out there. I just got a full time job, with benefits. Sounds good but the wage isn't very much.
