The Village

I finally saw this last night. I liked it, although clearly not M. Night's best. One of those movies where I can see people's criticisms, but still enjoyed it myself. And many people said the "twist" was obvious but I only saw half of it coming. I also heard complaints about the hokey dialouge, but thought that was actually an important part of setting up the second half of the plot (I don't think I'm giving too much away by saying that).

I just give M. Night Shymalan a lot of credit for writing, producing, and directing 4 movies in a row that are successful, get people talking, and none of which rely on cookie cutter formula hollywood garbage.

1. I just thought is was a symbolic of what is happening in our society today

This is the society that neo-cons would want us to live, which ironically wasn't much fancier than Afghanistan under the Taliban rule (at least the village didn't make their women wear burqas or stay unemployed)

...yet didn't beat you over the head with the message.
