Who was your favorite fictional President?
There have been plenty of films with a fictional President of the United States.

Who was your favorite?

Mine: Henry Fonda in "Fail Safe". Sure, he ended up ordering the destruction of New York, but he was a good man who ended up doing the right thing for humanity.

8. The guy's bulletproof.
Survived an assassination attempt, a biological attack, a psychotic ex-wife, a mutiny in his cabinet, thwarted a nuclear holocaust and a nationwide biological war. He's the shite!

11. DAVE!
The movie with Kevin Kline when a dead-ringer for the president (who suffers a stroke or something) steps in and instantly transforms the chief executive from a dour old bastard into a beloved president.

"I once caught a fish... THIS BIG!"

18. My favorite as well.
The speech he gives near the end of the movie is one I want to hear from a "real President".

Whoever he is, that guy is a pure genius just for the idea of Merkin Muffley alone.

19. Not from a movie, but Gary "The Smiler" Callahan
from the comic TRANSMETROPOLITAN. He's an evil piece of shit who has people killed to boost his approval ratings, but he presents this aura of "Everything is great, don't worry" to the rest of the country. He even jerks off into the American flag. He's one of the greatest comic-book villains in recent years, but hardly anyone has read TRANSMET.

21. Josiah "Jed" Bartlet and Andrew Shepard.
Bartlet: "You may be mistaking this for your monthly meeting of the arrogant tightass club, but in this building, when the President stands, nobody sits!"

Shepard: "The American people, for reasons passing understanding, aren't able to relate guns to gun-related crime."

And they both said: "Someday, someone is going to have to explain to me the value of a proportional response."

'Course, they had the same speech-writer, Aaron Sorkin.

Aaron Sorkin, :yourock: !!!!!!
