Your favorite BAD movie?
I'm talking about those movies that suck but are incredibly watchable and ALWAYS suck you in.

Bill Simmons from ESPN.com refers to these flicks as SLANFARE (the acronym for "surfing late at night for anything remotely entertaining").

What's your favorite SLANFARE movie?

Karate Kid III will always get the job done for me...

One and Two are really good, Three is not bad. Four is a "prequel" and is not as good as the others and doesn't have any of the original cast except for "Bert".

Tremors (all of them) are really great movies to watch with kids, they enjoy it and you can too :)

10. Dungeons and Dragons: The Movie
This thing was so bad, it took weeks before I could dislodge it from the bottom of my shoes. Jeremy Irons must have been laughing all the way through the script under his breath. The best thing is to watch the DVD's director's comments and witness the praise he showers on himself and the movie. What a gas.

It was a shame, I am a big D&D fan and this movie needed a director like Peter Jackson to pull it off. Oh well, such is life. The irony is that I watch it every time it is available.

20. Believe it or not, they are filming D&D2
I was horrified at how bad it was. I called a fellow D&D guy after I saw the movie and he asked me what the worst part was, and I said, "it was X" then, I said, "no, it was Y" and then finally, "no, maybe it was Z" and I finally gave up and said, the whole thing sucked!

It's got Peter Fonda and Loretta Swit in it, but it's really awful. I first saw it on TV as a kid, and it scared the crap out of me. As an adult, it's just plain silly, so when I see it listed on late-night TV, I always tune in.

58. FANTASY MISSION FORCE.....here's why:
Abraham Lincoln as a WWII general (the Japanese capture him in Canada and take him to Luxembourg). The English general is Robert Forster - and he's played by a Hispanic guy. Another general is the "General of Africa" (all of Africa?), and he's played by a Chinese in black-face.....

A girl who rides a horse and shoots bazookas....

Japanese Nazis that ride on top of 70's muscle cars (with little swastika stickers all over them) like Road Warrior rejects - some of them are dressed like Mexican wrestlers......

A haunted mansion with hopping zombies, zombies cheating at Mahjong, a guy who makes out with a dead chick, and ghosts who mess with a guy's head while he's taking a shit......

Two homoerotic Chinese guys in kilts - one wears plate mail with a red spandex shirt underneath and a kilt, and he wields a morning star (it's a WWII movie!!).........

Amazon women who throw brightly colored strips of cloth as a weapon, and their leader is a gay guy in a tux........

THE GREATEST SONG AND DANCE SCENE IN A MOVIE.....EVER.....

An dirty cop who dresses first like Sherlock Holmes, then in the rest of the movie he's dressed like Elvis......

The music: they play the theme from "Halloween" in happy moments and a sad version of "Camptown Races" when everybody's dieing.....

"You must call me PAPA!!" - I can't explain it unless you've seen the movie.....

The ending is biggest non-sequitor ever....funny as hell.....

All of this is supposed to be in a World War II movie....

___
There's a lot more. This movie is so good to watch high/drunk. It's the ultimate WTF?! movie.

67. High Spirits (1988)
Not one of the greatest fiascos of all time but, taken as a whole, it isn't very good. I mean, the "hero" is Steve Guttenberg. An Irish castle is about to be foreclosed upon & the Anglo-Irish lord has an cunning plan. He'll make the place a "haunted hotel" with the whimsically droll staff doing the haunting. It doesn't work out--until the Real Ghosts get into the act. So why do I watch this whenever it shows up on TV?

* An improbably beautiful Peter Gallagher plays a seminarian, with naughty Jennifer Tilly determined to demonstrate why he really isn't cut out to be a priest. Ah, watching the poor young fella pray to be delivered from temptation!

* Liam Neeson makes a fine figure of a ghost; watch for the shower scene. Beverly D'Angelo is a real bitch until she realizes that joining Liam in the afterlife is far preferable to living as the wife of Steve Guttenberg.

* Peter O'Toole as Peter Plunkett himself, the mad owner of the castle. Watch a real professional chew on the scenery.

72. "Satan's Cheerleaders" (which is not porn...really!) Read the premise:
The premise: a bus full of high school cheerleaders breaks down in the desert, and wouldn't you know it, the only nearby town is populated by Satanists. They need to sacrifice a virgin for a ceremony, so they manage to keep the cheerleaders stuck there until they can determine which ones are virgins.

Here's the kicker... none of them are!

90. ooh, that sounds like a distinct rental possibility
I have an obsession with cheerleaders (or any cute, perky young woman in a short skirt) and I like cheesy horror movies.

So, how can I not watch this?

75. Song of Bernedette
I don't know if it qualifies for a bad movie but a strange one for me to feel compelled to watch everytime it's on. It always makes me cry and feel a little creepy.

BTW: I am an atheist.

78. OK -what do you think it means for us
Do we have a deep seated passion to find God?

Are we guilt ridden because we don't believe?

Or do we just love Jennifer Jones in that habit.

I wasn't even raised Catholic.

79. I have no idea, but perhaps it's Jennifer Jones in the habit for me
If there was a god(s), I'd like to know her/him/them/it. If I have ANY guilt, it's for wasting all those years trying to believe in any one particular myth. When I discovered the Greek and Roman gods during childhood, I realized that there were a lot of other, even more interesting beliefs. Thank Zeus my ex-Catholic mom decided to raise me to be a free thinking human.

94. I love that flick!
Back when video recorders first came out, it amazingly was one of the early releases. For a whole year, I used to come home from school and put the film in. (remember, there weren't many films out on vhs at that point)

Puuuuuuuuuberty love!

89. "Showgirls" and "Logan's Run"
The funniest bad movie ever!

The thing just oozes with the aroma of trash. And it's great!

I do have some sort of strange attraction toward "Logan's Run" as well.

92. Munchie
A early 90's movie that stars Loni Anderson and DOm DeLouise as the voice of a hilarious alien who fixes this grade school kid's problems. It's bad, but genius. I take that back, it's not bad it's so genius.

They actually are quite liberal in tone. Fighting censorship is one of the major themes that run throughout the series.

98. "Robot Monster" (1953)
the most ridiculously funny science fiction movie ever made. I think it was made for just a few thousand dollars back in 1953 and occasionally plays late at night on local TV stations. The filmmakers had little money so they used whatever they had handy to dress up the Robot Monster: an old deepsea diving helmet onto which they welded an old TV antenna and an old hairy gorilla suit. This ridiculous looking monster encounters a family that is strangely having a family picnic in an old abandoned quarry of all places. The Robot Monster communicates with his alien overlords by tuning in their space signal over an old wooden TV console (French Provincial style I think). The dialogue is so bad it's hilarious. The other strange thing is that the music is extremely good and leads to a weird disconnect on the part of the viewer between the cheapness of the images, the bad acting and the music, as the soundtrack was written by a then unknown Elmer Berstein, who went on to write the film music to such great movies as "The Magnificent Seven" and "The Great Escape".
